Roundhouse Kick issues
pittbullJudoka replied to gypsy rover's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
Base foot I knew I forgot something Bushidoman that also prevents knee damage. I've seen people who have all their power ever when leaned over far that their kick is almost vertical. -
Roundhouse Kick issues
pittbullJudoka replied to gypsy rover's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
Also cantting the body away from the kick opens the gates of the hip to allow greater height. If you are trying to keep the body too upright you are bindinf the hips up and loosing height and power. -
This morning my Sensei came to my place of work and our conversation turned to MA as it normally does. We were discussing thing that we wanted to work on in the next few weeks and sparring was brought up. He was telling me that he need to find some new gloves for a couple of private students he has. They are currently using the Ernie Boggs Sport Jujitsu gloves. And he asked me to see what I could find to replace these gloves since I order most of the equipment for our dojo. The glove these kids need to be well padded yet open handed because we down alot of mma style sparring. If they were older I would suggest the glove like I were which are Combat Sport MMA traing gloves, We are thinking of putting them in boxing gloves but that limits their grapping too much. Any suggestion are welcome. Also if you have suggestion put up a link so I can check the product out. Thanks in advance.

Myth of the Forrest Griffin Arm Bar Break
pittbullJudoka replied to tufrthanu's topic in Pro Fighting Matches and Leagues
If I get time this weekend I'll check the first season of TUF that I have on dvd I'm pretty sure he tells the story in the house at one point. -
Average time to get to Shodan?
pittbullJudoka replied to smckeown's topic in Share Your Testing, Grading, or Promotion
It took me about 3.5 years to recieve shodan. That's rarely missing classes staying late and lot of hard work. -
I just recieved my shodan and the first think my Sensei said was he doesn't normally advise washing ones belt but in order to soften it up twist it, roll it, wad it, and finally wash it. If you are going to be in that belt for awhile I suggest washing it a couple of times.

Myth of the Forrest Griffin Arm Bar Break
pittbullJudoka replied to tufrthanu's topic in Pro Fighting Matches and Leagues
Early on in his career he got caught in an arm bar during a fight. The arm ended up breaking in the forearm region.Take a close look at Forrest's forearms one has a nasty knot were it didn't heal properly. Forrest mentioned it in the first ever ultimate fighter tv show. And he also knocked the guy in the next round after getting his arm broken. -
I like some of the stuff Eddie came up with but alot of it is useless against a decently trained grappler but these is some of it I find myself gooing to because of something going wrong and ending up in a position were it works. But to make it really work hip and knee flexablity is amust, and that is something impossible for me because of genetics.

I saw a female instructor who used the hit to the top of the head to teach her students to keep their hands up. She didn't do more than tap the on the head and tell them to keep their hands up but in turn she did not have such a young student. It work for her students.

Decoy Wallet
pittbullJudoka replied to bat in a birdless village's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I talked with my instructor again and he just carries a slim wallet made for the front poket when he's traveling in a high risk area and the decoy wallet in his hip pocket. -
I've never heard of this but to me it worn carry the same value if it were a belt.

Sohan I can agree with this statement.Where I train a stand up style is taught but we grapple alot and do alot of mma style sparring.I also have guys who have great stand up and decent ground skills but hate being on the ground unless they're in the mount or side control. I am a better clinch and ground fighter and I have problems with guys not wanting to fight from the bottom even when they have a large weight and strength advantage on me.After a round is up and I have had the advantage on the ground they'll say something about if it was a real fight. My first thought is when that is said is if it were a real fight when I had you in side control I would have kneed you in the head to end it quick. Some also say they like mixing it up sparring and will do what ever it it takes to aviod a take down even if it is running from their opponent for the entire round.

Decoy Wallet
pittbullJudoka replied to bat in a birdless village's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
My instructor talked about dumby wallets last summer around vacation time.He told us to keep atleast 20 bucks in it.He travels frequently to large cities for seminars and has been mugged a few times and all the mugger got was $20 and an old wallet.Seems like a good idea to me. -
Ultimate Fight Night Thoughts
pittbullJudoka replied to UseoForce's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
silva was very impressive with his stand up game.I would like to see his ground game now.Wow it's been awhile since a fresh fighter came in like Silva did. And what's up with the one judge scoring 2 fights as a draw.Kumo got totally dominated in his fight and one judge scores is a draw.I wonder what he was basing the fight off of? -
I seem to have constant motivation from myself and my training partners. When talking to some of the guys same rank as myself and say how I am feeling my technique is lacking they take a look at it and reasure me I look fine.I sit back and look at my ultimate goal to be the best and most knowledgeable martial artist I can be.

To Gi or not to Gi
pittbullJudoka replied to GreenDragon's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
I'd do both you find it very use to know application of gi and no gi moves.Plus you will have a wider knowledge of the grappling art with both types of training. -
The best kick for self defense
pittbullJudoka replied to bushido_man96's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
Low front kick works.Easiest to right when kicking cross body ex:left to right. One can use the point of the toe also just like taking a fast step toward them.
