this topic bothers me as many martial art school restrict students from participating in competitions. The mainly art based and traditionally based schools very rarely have competitions or enter the students into them. The main competitons are really focused from sport tkd and sport karate, whos intention is to teach how to fight competition style. Traditional schools who teach hardcore grappling, pressure points, low kicks, feel that competitions are a waster of time due to there many restrictions

i can understand your view cdkstudent but lets look at the odd italy was 1/4 to win spain was 1/5 portugal 3/5 korea?? 1/50 , quite i strong contrast, korea are a good team but there is no way they could beat the likes of italy spain and portugal, considiring it is the first time they have reached the finals, let alone the semifinals
-
it amazes me and disgusts me to see how bias and fixed this years world cup in japan 2002 is i just gave up watching after the spain and korea match. How the two goals scored by spain were completley legit, they should have beat korea, this goes for the same for italy and portugal when they faced korea. Im sorry but i feel the world cup is fixed so korea will pull through they should have been out in the first round

say what?? thats how i do them, with the arm in which i am doing it on put a bit more further away than the rest of my body this press up ensures that your hold body goes all the way down. the cross legged one only allows your body to crunch to the direction your going the splits are more intense

ckdstudent you havent been in many steet fights have u??? the chain is always the least i see, almost every punk looking for a fight has a knife, the knife gives that person and extra sense of security strength and bravery.... i dunno

"your likely to be in more danger if you carry a weapon around" ever heard that saying b4??? , well i dont believe it. I would like to carry a weapon around but i get searched everyday in the bus by police just checking for bus passes and if my bus pass is out of date then they will search me, if they find a weapon i wil get arrested. I used to carry a pocket knife which i stuck in a holster around my ankle but police checked me one time and i got in trouble. There have been many people who have come to me and flashed a knife up to my face but there is no need to worry, anybody who shows a knife to your face just wants to scare you, most people who want to stab somebody conceal there knife with there coat sleeves covering it.

you can punch a leather bag with bare fists and now it will not get damaged, but its likely that your wrists will be if they are not toughnened enough, you must always wear wristbands regardless of using punching gloves or not, they are essential to keeping your wrist erect and to reduce the risk of damaging it i have a cloth compressed punching bag, i bought it about 16months ago and it still going strong Karatekid, with you living in the us, it wont be possible to obtain a british based magazine, but surely the usa must have decent martial art magazines??

Which is the best timing method in excercise to increase mus
ad replied to ad's topic in Health and Fitness
you mention Ti-Kwon-Leap, that i should do an excercise intensely, and the next few days do an amount in which i will not feel very fatigued at the end of it and continue this cycle for sometime, why not just do the excercise do the extent of being fatigued everytime?? -
cimac and prosport do one of the best punching bag ranges i have seen. You will see enough advertised if you pick up any issue of Martial Arts Illustrated magazines

Which is the best timing method in excercise to increase mus
ad posted a topic in Health and Fitness
hey all after 12months of training, consisting of different press ups, crunches, bag work, stretching, i have always tried to find the best method to time myself in each excercise to make it so intense that i would reach my peak performance in acheiving muscle, endurance, and maximum heart rate, these excercises that i am talking about in particular are press ups, crunches, bag work and weights once i turn sixteen. In the early days of last year when i had just started training, i did lets say 20 press ups, consisiting of shoulder, kuncle, stomach and ordinary each, with lets say 30 seconds break within each of them, i have found this too intense and it therefore came to a point where i cut them down to 10 and some of them to five, which in my view is very poor in gaining any form of benefits. For crunches, i used the ab machine, nothing too high tech but it does the job, i would let say do as many until i passed out, i found some visible beneficial results after doing these crunches for about 12 weeks. After press ups and crunches, i went onto bag work, doing about 100 hundred punches, practicing shoulders, hooks, uppercuts etc.. , doing 25 of each on each hand. Then i would do about 5 kicks of each leg of front kick, side kick, round kick, back kick. There was a great deal of stretching involved, and this schedule was performed every day, xcept for mondays, hehe, i said that to myslef but i eventually cut down to about 5 days a week and today i cant remeber the last day i trained properly. Over the twelve months, i was interested in finding new ways of timing to help me progess in press ups and crunches and bagwork, such methods were using one minute timing methods and to achieve my maximum anaerobic threshold. I found a straight minute too intense, then i went onto the twenty second tabata timing of six session with ten second interval breaks, courtesy of Jack . This method i felt i could cope with but still the muscle build up really wasnt there. The search still goes on, and the method that was suggested by Ti-Kwon leap was very tempting. I therefore make my plee to the many professionals in this internet site and all excercise enthusiast to ask what is the best timing method in excercise to increase muscle Your help will be greatly appreciated. -Ad _________________ Green Belt Ho gar kuien Kung Fu Green Belt Kickboxing 15 yr old 10 and half stone 5,9 height eyyyyyyy, fair enough lads [ This Message was edited by: ad on 2002-06-09 16:51 ] -
so from your impression, i guess youve read the book bon?? im satisfied enough, im getting a copy, thnx again for the advice
-
will it atually help me in performing the splits because that was what the book was most recommended for - helping in performing the splits it says that it can be performed in a couple of months, which in my view is total rubbish, but does the book aid in performing the splits?
-
i have found its cheaper at Amazon, sadly its still dear at 23 pounds, but i will get it, to kickchick, - do you think its really worth the purchase?
-
there is the typical stretching machines which is used to obain the box splits which goes in excess of £200, $300, it consists of two leg containers and a seat in the middle, you positon yourself into the machine, then you use the turning handle which will gradually increase the angle which the leg containers at, going up to 180 degrees, its a ridiculous price where you can by a similar equipment which do the same job for about a tenner
-
if the hook is going from the left hand to right, then you would circle down under to the left, making the opponent slightly off balance with him having his arm stretched out without hitting anything, then circle under and to the side of the arm to the right and follow with the body's circular movement with jab then follow with a cross do the head do xactly the opposite with a hook from the right hand to left position

Question on quickest way to end the trouble
ad replied to Nickgarren's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
take a positon for a cross, loosen your hand, force it at full speed towards the targets lower right or left jaw , and just before impact clench your fist as i tight as you can, and the guy should be on the floor, youve won the fight, or in a dase leaving you open to follow with the second combination of an uppercut to the jaw, which will most certainly send him to the floor, then again fight is won simple _________________ Green Belt Ho gar kuien Kung Fu Green Belt Kickboxing 15 yr old 10 and half stone 5,9 height eyyyyyyy, fair enough lads [ This Message was edited by: ad on 2002-06-05 21:39 ] -
thnx for the advice kickchick, you really helped me out the price for the tom kurz book you said sounds reasonable, but is it possible to get it sent to the uk???
-
thnx for the info i feel that i will not really hit the weight until i reach around sixteen, and then take it easy from then on chh- i have come across a book called scientific stretching by tom kurz, which goes in excess of £30 pounds which is around 50 dollars , quite pricy but i havent come across harry wong, might look into that, thnx for the advice

its ironic isnt it knuckle press ups are supposted to be safer than the normal ones as medical officials say that the normal press ups damage your wrist, and so doing knuckle press ups instead is ideal but in the end you find that knucle press ups do some damage as well they are designed to toughen up your wrist and make your knuckles more redifined, if you really want to make sure your doing the properly, make sure you are using the first two knuckles only _________________ Green Belt Ho gar kuien Kung Fu Green Belt Kickboxing 15 yr old 10 and half stone 5,9 height eyyyyyyy, fair enough lads [ This Message was edited by: ad on 2002-06-04 20:53 ]

-
i dont want to do weight lifting, with my young age and dangerous side effects so i stood by the usual press-ups and crunches, but they didnt really help me in really molding that built shape for my stomach, chest and arms, i do crunches for the stomach, press ups for the chest and punch pag for the arms, i have been doin it for at least a year now every day but there hasnt been much improvement is weight lifting the only way to give me the body i want???

chill the adrenaline so you can think straight perhaps by resting before a fight or just thinking about thinks after the fight and just thinking its a mere obstacle in your way
