Effective Hook kick
TKD_McGee replied to TKD_McGee's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
Lead foot preferably... no spin hook kick. -
Well its that time again... my next test is to break through 2 boards with a hook kick. I have a pretty effective kick, I just don't know if its that powerful. I don't want to kick the board and get a painful DINNNNG! Kinda like a cartoon when someone hits a metal object with a bat! Any tips?

Well if a woman wanted to fight and sucker punched me or something id do it... otherwise there is no harm in the matter unless the woman is trained in a martial art!

I currently bike more than I run because i believe it is better for you. It works out more muscles, and you can cover more distance in a short time. I also don't put my bike in low gears when doing uphill riding to reduce the strain. I think people with leg problems like to bike more also... What do you guys think?

Damn... she must have really drove him over the edge for him to do that. So much for self defense..

To Bow or not to Bow (?)
TKD_McGee replied to KickChick's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
Every human is considered the same. Their doctrine isnt. If I were to go out of the way and corrupt doctrine to my own liking then it would be a problem. Hey If I wanted to marry a sheep that would be ok then? Shinto or Buddism still use the full bow. I don't partake in classes that practice those concepts. I am just saying, as a Christian, that I should not bow or take part in other religous practices. _________________ Do unto others, as they done to you. Twist kick, help!!
TKD_McGee replied to Bretty101's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
Come to think of it I heard something about the twist kick recently... One of my instructors told me about a lady that went to the school a year ago that broke 2 boards using a twist kick with the ball of the foot. I guess its all in the hip leg motion. Try working your legs out for more strength maybe? My school is ITF/WTF combo. _________________ Do unto others, as they done to you. [ This Message was edited by: TKD_McGee on 2002-03-06 08:50 ] -
To Bow or not to Bow (?)

Arat, Buddism is still a religon that is used in many Martial Arts. It is taken seriously and treated seriously. I think its ridiculous to do a full bow at a ceremony myself. And I haven't done it either. That is also a huge cop out using Christian people as hippocrits.. everyone is the same. Doug you are an idiot, the bow I am refering to is the second bow, FULL BOW. A respect bow is fine, but a FULL BOW is not. We don't bow to the american flag, we salut it. It is obvious to me when Buddism is used in ceremonies such as bowing, candles, incents.. maybe it isn't very clear to your thick head. I am not going to argue anymore, ill just end up making everyone mad and putting them down. I don't see a verse where you can edit the Bible to your own liking either. Its either all or nothing. _________________ Do unto others, as they done to you. [ This Message was edited by: TKD_McGee on 2002-03-06 08:43 ] -
To Bow or not to Bow (?)

You clearly didn't read what I said. There are two types of bows, a courtesy bow like the one that is equal to an american handshake. And there is a 2nd bow that is a full floor bow(Belt Ceremonies, Aikido bows) , which I am refering to in my defense. -

I supose that Homosexuality is taken literally too?!? HEY U NEED TO BE TOLERANT OF GAYS. Buddy, read your Bible before you diss it. After you have read your Bible, maybe you should look at a new church to go to since the one you belong to is "Bull ****" _________________ Do unto others, as they done to you. To Bow or not to Bow (?)

Why is there full bows then? Why is there reference to Buddish ways of life? Why is there a meditation session in many places? -

What branch am I from? Unless your reading from the book of mormon, you should read your Bible. It clearly states that you should bow to no man. Which is reference to Kings, high officials, leaders, and that also goes for objects like a big brass buddah. _________________ Do unto others, as they done to you. Student kicks teacher suffers
TKD_McGee replied to ramcalgary's topic in Instructors and School Owners
Nope, thats why all certified schools have you sign a contract first. Its kind of like the Bar Tender being responsible for an auto accident thing. -

Catholics do their own thing... I guess u could count the saints as idols. The Cross is a symbol, not an icon that is bowed to. Bowing your heads in respect is different to bowing to another man or an object. There are two types of bows. One is the common japanese type greeting bow. The other common is the full bow somewhat simular to the bows which many islamic people perform. A full bow to the floor with your face touching it. _________________ Do unto others, as they done to you. [ This Message was edited by: TKD_McGee on 2002-03-04 18:40 ] -
Head Kicks are risky and deadly in any fight. I always see Martial Arts movies with guys throwing head kicks and knocking people out. In real life a Head Kick is very risky and you could end up being the one knocked out. While it can deliver a deadly blow to your opponent, it can also be very risky. Would any of you attempt to go for the head in Street Fighting? Even if you were fast and able to pull many off in sequence?

Pat some people force themselves not to believe something even if it is true. There are plenty of books and old articles about colombine about rights lost and new techniques for finding killers and potential killers.

Bowing to inatimate objects is sacrilegious to christians. Most people don't like to go to Martial Arts and have Buddism stuffed down their pie hole. I like TKD but, I dont like the Buddist part of it. I am in a school without buddism so it works for me. We do however bow respectfully, which is equal to a handshake or something.
