The Matrix and Jiu-Jitsu
TKD_McGee replied to TKD_McGee's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
It depends on the person. If the person is serious and dedicated they will continue. On the other hand if they joined because of a video game and take it lightly they wont last long. -
Because I look like the Ideal TKD person I dont look very strong or big. But I can do more weight and reps that most people can do at my school. People like Bruce Lee look little but they are very wirey and strong.

Hey thats good Patrick, but I still think it should be called Serious Discussions to broaden the topics a little.

They probabily wanted to put an end to it because like so many other Martial Arts schools it taught false concepts (Buddism) contrary to their own muslim beliefs.

After you achieve your black belt or you have determined how high you are going to go with Martial Arts then what do you do? It is always fun to stay and take lessons with the people you have become friends with over the years.. Younger people tend to forget their teachings after 3 years or so.. (Thats why I tend to be against kids in Martial Arts).. Other people say once a black belt always a black belt... If you keep good notes and pamphlets from each level you could potentially stay a black belt forever if you continued to practice daily. I recently purchased a CD with all the TKD kicks, punches, blocks, and forms on it from 10th gup to 1st dan. I think this is highly useful for me to remember what I have been taught for the future.. What do you plan on doing after you go your furthest? ( After black or 3rd degree... )

I watched a few Ultimate Fighting Champsionships and the Jiu-Jitsu guy always seems to win. I saw a TKD guy (9thdeg I believe) go up against a Jiu-Jitsu guy.. all the Jiu-Jitsu guy did was get close to him and tackle him to the ground before he could kick.. then the Jiu-Jitsu guy just started to wail on him.. The Jiu-Jitsu guy wins most of the time in UFC. Grappling always seems more effective in a skilled fight or street fight.

Run up the court house steps then yell Adrian...
-
I actually started to do bench press, freeweight, leg press, and all of these neat machines at the age of 16...
-
Sounds like what I do.. I stretch daily and try to hold my leg up in a round house or sidekick position as long as possible. I also do as much kicks as I can until all of my legs muscles are tired. I am the type of person who works out the whole body when I work out.
-
Just what we need, somebody telling someone else how to work out... It is just like watching Construction Work. Three People stand around and tell a person what to do, while that person does all the work.

Ha dreamer that Paper exercise is pretty weak.. Take a 5-10 lbs weight and put a rope through it or tie it on to a dumbell, then tie the other end to a stick or plastic cylindar shaped object. Make sure that the weight tied with the rope can touch the floor while you are standing up. Next you should do a twisting motion and curl up the rope around the cylindar object until the weight touches the cylindar object... hmm...

I am not talking about Beastiality Jack. In the Guiness book of world records women in europe used cats for exercise. They weight about 10-20lbs, so they were easily lifted over head or flexed using the arm. Amazing.

Why do we strive so hard to do the splits?
TKD_McGee replied to SaiFightsMS's topic in Health and Fitness
The Splits are the pinnacle of Martial Arts. If you can do the splits anything is possible. You can do flips easier, you can high a lot higher, and you wont get hurt as easily. Go to your bookstore look at the martial arts section. Many books have lengthy articles about the usefulness of the Splits and Flexibility. -
Telling people not to weight lift at a young age is correct, but push-ups are fine. At the age of 12 I started to do push-ups. I used to do about 10 in a row 2 times a night. Now that I am 18 I do 60 in a row, 3 times a night along with my regular routine. No one is too young for Push-Ups or Sit-Ups for that matter. I think it depends on your self ambition and your will to work hard.

I actually read the One Arm Push-up technique in a book called Training for Martial Arts. It has the picture of a big sweaty muscle guy on the front. Inside there is a beefed up dude and a hot asian woman showing you how to do everything needed for Martial Arts. I just said Cross your legs because thats how I do it, and it makes it harder to do... Basically just go on your side with one of your arms on the ground and one of your arms on the side like your watching the TV while lying on the floor. Then take your arm that is on the floor and put that elbow down with the arm out away from your body. Lift yourself up on that arm and put one leg on top of the other. Now with the arm that is on the side of your body, place on the floor. Then push up in a 90 degree motion I believe.. The arm that is pushing's shoulder should touch the ground and go back up until your face is facing the TV that you should be looking at. I hope that cleared things up.

Martial Arts Help
TKD_McGee replied to TKD_McGee's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
Wow thanks, I wanted to look for a professional site that had good schools. I didn't want to go on yellow pages and get a Billy Bob school that has a camo belt in its rank system... Thanks joe. -
Action Encore has all of the Anime now... Sci Fi has sold out, it is horrible now.

There is always some dumbass that has to say something... Just read a magazine or a book before you belive someone...

TKD's very little blocking
TKD_McGee replied to mastertae's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
Yea no kidding, what school do you go to? You always need to block or else you are kicked in the face! -
Yea your right, you don't need to look strong. Some people can do immense physical feats but look like a poindexter...

My resolution is try to not to get kicked out of the forum by Pat for bad behavior!

How important is speed to you?
TKD_McGee replied to Singularity's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Actual footspeed and agility should be the only major factors in Martial Arts. I think that rapidly punching with no skills with get you no where.
