Yes, NY tonight, I'll give them a few more fight nights before I decide on whether I keep watching or not. As mentioned above it seems to be WKF styles, point fighters going full contact. I think they would get eaten alive if they went up against some of the full contact styles......

We have a mild autistic boy in our club, took him a while, but now he's like family to all of us and us to him. He definitely doesn't handle surprises well, loves using the Japanese words. He enjoys being accepted and the comaradare. Push him too hard tho and he shuts down. Very rewarding to have him as part of the club tho......

Yes, we used to do leaflet drops last one being some years ago. Like it or not Facebook seems to have the pop and the tools to target your preferred audience. Posts in community groups, having your own group, targeted advertising (Which for a local club targeting local people would be quite cheap. Boosts and adverts are very cheap and can have results. Your on the right track. Also link a Instagram account as well. Free!

Yes, the seven virtues of bushido are indeed a lofty height for mere humans to follow, aspire to yes, but follow, well, that might well be another story. Man's greatest weakness............as you said: EGO.

Generational loss of knowledge in the Internet age?
Bulltahr replied to JazzKicker's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
MMA, UFC are so strong these days. People want a all encompassing system....... Of the "trad" MA I would say that BJJ has become very strong. Grappling seems to be the flavor of the month these days. Karate had the 70's and 80's. Just the way things are. -
Google is great for cloud storage and collaboration/sharing. If they don't have Facebook they are unlikely to understand the features of a wiki page. I'm not sure but wiki pages are kind of 90s or early 2000s tech and a bit clunky to use. I imagine that Patrick would have excellent advice on such a topic.

Facebook closed group would be a lot easier for users....

Spelt "Osu" , pronounced "Oss". Can't tell you why.

Personal principles vs goals
Bulltahr replied to OneKickWonder's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I know right, always wondered why in tournaments they have female and male kata seperate. No strength differential there..... -
HHHmmm that's a tough one, loyalty is very important to me, I'm in a similar situation and also unsure of what to do. I am following this thread with interest. Sorry I don't have any solution to the problem as yet.

Good on you! -
Thanks! Wouldn't point fighters doing full contact eventually get better than Kyokushin guys in this sort of competition? Their lack of face punches while doing full contact may have conditioned them to miss that sort of defense... Dunno mate, just an observation, you would think that they would want to pit themselves against "the strongest karate" and vis versa. Hate to say it, but the Karate combat series to me is a little......flat???

What motivates you?
Bulltahr replied to Spartacus Maximus's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
To keep the mobility that I have really. Plus I enjoy the whole MA experience including traditions, history, etc. When things get tough, my motivation is just to keep going! -
Here's a link to an interesting site about the book: http://www.bookoffiverings.com/home

The world record for the plank is more than 10 hours, it must get easier as you continue your training, although it may not seem that way.......

Yes, thread here: https://www.karateforums.com/karate-combat-vt51582.html looks like point fighters doing full contact. I notice that it is mostly Shotokan and Goju ru fighters. No Kyokushin based styles that I have seen anyway.

Done plenty of kata one move, one press up. Was one of Seishi's favorite "warm ups"................

Remaking Enter The Dragon!!
Bulltahr replied to sensei8's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
Donnie Yen is, along with Jet Li one of the "powerhouse" MA stars of the last 20 years and would probably do a great job, if you enjoyed Ip Man, there are several other very, very good movies of his that I would highly recommend, as long as you can handle sub titles.. I think the role of Bruce Lee in this movie would be a perfect vehicle for some "unknown" MA actor to get launched into the mainstream. Donnie is getting a bit older now, and this one probably needs some one under 35....... -
Private lessons or personal trainer?
Bulltahr replied to JazzKicker's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Been looking into Benny "the jet" Urquidez a bit lately, I see that John Cuzack trained under him and was wondering if it was one on one or a normal "group" class. I would love some one on one lessons, not necessarily with someone famous, just with someone really good, mostly for kumite TBH..... -

Strange that they hadn't approached Tarantino to possibly direct, that type of film could be great with some of his awesome dialogue written in. -

Different styles for different life stages?
Bulltahr replied to OneKickWonder's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I recently have pondered this one myself and will likely move to Tai Chi or similar when and if I feel my body cannot keep going in the style I train at now. I'm hoping that that day is a long way off, but who knows..... -
It was a very special for me and boy, how the time flew!! I look forward to the opportunity to train together next time! Still plenty more to talk and discuss! Thank you for taking the time to meet with me Sensei8!
