  1. Welcome Capella, can't say it gets easier, you do get used to it tho. A journey of a thousand miles etc.......................
  2. Thanks so much Alan! The 5 second rule really resonated for me, I'm going to apply it immediately!!!!
  3. HHHmmm, Life for me has been a pretty transient but active experience up until the last 10 years where I have had a chance to put down some roots. Currently I am training 6 hours a week at Karate and that will shortly increase substantially as I prepare for my shodan grading some time next year. Couch and TV aren't my thing theses days, If I am sitting down at home it's probably at my desktop surfing interesting topics on the interwebby.
  4. Stuff happens! and the intent was to mawashi not hiza I believe. Blue left his whole right side un-covered and went in and found a knee. Dunno about WKF but Blue wins in my book......
  5. Anyone seen it, worth watching? I did enjoy the Warrior series. I'll take a peek and let everyone know what I think. It's on Netflix....
  6. Congratulations!!!!! Cool looking dojo also!!
  7. Nice short article, I am sure that Sensei8 and Mr A would likely agree. Posted link here as I am sure that they would enjoy the shared opinion, http://andrebertel.blogspot.com/2019/07/ido-kihon-elucidating-blind-faith.html
  8. Welcome here, Steppenwolf!
  9. With your depth of experience, I am sure you can do it and be very successful in protecting your students current and future with a formal body!!
  10. Agreed Bob, after all you have all the experience and are the most senior of your style. If anyone could carry it on it's you.
  11. Be careful with it, once it splits it will cut you to the bone.
  12. Hahahahaha, Yes, Happy Birthday JR!
  13. Try Google sheets, (Free) you can add access for all your students, there are templates that you can use and tweak to your requirements. I use it for my own training log, it's cloud based which means you can access it anywhere, from your smart phone for example.
  14. Welcome Mightyquinn!!
  15. Welcome Bbags. Will check your site out.
  16. Take it out on the bag, NOT other students....
  17. I enjoy both the physical and mental challenges that it gives me. Also the disciple. Being ex-military, maybe it has become a replace for that, I don't know, I just know that I enjoy it very much.
  18. Yes, very interesting. I would imagine that since the first humans formed tribes there was practice and training of some type of another. Now, the family tree of our modern martial arts would be a great project for a researcher, but as you say, documented and verified techniques likely only can be traced hundreds of years rather than thousands.......... The Bubishi makes some interesting reading, especially the first chapters pertaining to the origins of karate.
  19. On my way to Shanghai on Monday, I will try and put together a report with pics upon my return.
  20. I would say as far as "Eastern" martial arts go, it probably all started with Bodhidharma............ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bodhidharma
  21. Checked it out, pretty good, I like it, plenty of T and A, although a bit much swearing to be honest as well as a healthy does of 21st century slang. But still, pretty good, I'll keep watching.
  22. Thanks for that info, I will have a look!
