  1. Congratulations Bob, an important Milestone for both the forums and yourself!

The historical parts of where the styles developed is excellent. I enjoyed the Medicinal part also. When I went to China a few years ago and visited Pingyao, (Ancient city) I enjoyed visualizing the practitioners, training in the courtyards of the private security companies that were common then...... Very cool book.
  3. Congratulations to the winners! Sorry I have been away quite a bit this year, internet problems I think...
  4. Done! Must be fate or the will of god, or whatever you want to think of it, I managed to get onto the forum today. Bob, I look forward to seeing you again in 2022, now that we can start to travel again. OSU! (Japanese style, what can I say!)........
  5. WooHoo!!!! That's great news Bob, a new chapter begins!
  6. I listen to Invisible Sensei sometimes, he's pretty good. I went off Karate by Jesse, he was just too "in the face" with marketing etc...
  7. Good stuff Questor, my story is similar, teenage years some training and then back into it at 49, it will keep you mobile, done wonders for me. Keep us posted on progress!!
  8. So I took last nights general class, 2 hours with the last 1/2 hr sparring, so a good work out. It was amazing to see how far a couple of the girls have come, from throwing those little rabbit punches when they started to literally "packing a solid punch" now and throw kicking combos. Very pleased to see this sort of progress! Sweeps and Tobi geris are on the agenda for the coming weeks..............
  9. Thanks FC, I'm a big Wuxia fan so I'll check out the Shang CHi one..
  10. Anybody seen anything good lately? I can't really get into the Anime stuff, (Must be the grey hair), seen all the oldies, keen on some new release. The Chinese haven't release a blockbuster since Shadow . Maybe lockdowns have slowed down production? I don't know. Must be time for another re-make of Flying swords of Dragon's Gate!!!!!
  11. Yes, I would agree with the consensus here, Sandan should enough experience and also respect, I.E. he/she has made their bones and I think few would question the legitimacy of a Sandan opening their own dojo. Also agree with Sensei8 on this, it's the minimum for the public's perceived legitimacy. Good Luck!!
  12. Not sure how long I've been here. Not posting much as I don't have a lot to say really, just been enjoying my MA journey and having great people here that I can sound ideas and opinions off has been great. Highlight has been finally meeting Sensei8, Bob and his lovely wife, I hope me visit with them again and maybe even train if Bob was to invite me1 Also shout out to JR, who has been on a similar journey to my own within Seido karate, big thanks to him for being a great listener! Osu (to those that use it!) and Arigato to those who do not!
