nice,, i have been using spider guard alot but only as a transitional thing, i use it to defend against the guy from passing my guard , -

ok zero, but are you in a dominant position, if not you should get into one, by advanced i mean kneebars,heel hooks, clock chokes, um.......transition fron triangle to armbar is another one.............spider guard i just started using stuff other than the basics -

exactly what kirves said, if you do exercies and drills using the katas and learn how they work and spar and not just do the kata all the time by yourself, than there are benefits

ya my friend is from russia and hes pretty good at it, it incorporates kicking punching throwin and ground fighting also weapons ,too bad i don't have anywhere to go check it out -

if you don't feel that you deserve a blue belt wearing it is up to you. for a clear and very smart explanation of what a blue belt should be go to https://www.royharris.com and he has some good articles. anyways a blue belt should be good.........but not amazing, he should be able to do the basics properly and some,advanced, a little advanced stuff, but it depends what the quality of your instructor is and how long it takes you to improve, like a year is usually a good amount of time to get a blue belt, but i know people that got theirs in 8 months and i know someone is has been studying bjj for 2 years and still doesn't have one , what i was told is that when you can roll with the blue belts and give them a hard time and tap them out sometimes and you have become about their level thats when you receive a blue belt. -

no way man it takes on average like a year to get a blue belt whenre i train although my gym is known for producing top bjj players -
sometimes i don't feel like goin to the academy ,like im tired or ill etc.... but even if i don't participate i will still drag my ass there and watch the class thats how much a part of my life it is

very true slider. bjj is a very technically equiped system of combat we know how to deal with strikers very very true heel hook, like flying guillotine, flying triangle, standing triangle, flying armbar, we got a fwew wrist locks we have enough stuff to control someone standing up the only thing is you have to ask your instructor to teach you them and most people never do
