  1. ROYLER GRACIE is an example of someone that teaches bjj for self-defense, royce and helio are a few others, alot of people thought teach sport jj and thats fine but its not too good on the street. now vale tudo jiu-jitsu is better but has flaws, but so does every art, bjj does not say go to the ground all the time, it says finish the fight as quickly as possible anf this is done by using a submission or a choke, brazilian jiu-jitsu is a.k.a. "the gentle art" does not really incorporate striking but some schools do. and so my point is of course they go to the ground, they're in a matted cage with a ref, also bjj is not blinkered by sports any more than tkd, judo, karate, etc.... its competions are fierce and promote growth as a martial artist. jiu-jitsu is good on the street and in the ring but most people only see one side of it, today i went to a FABIO HOLANDA seminar (brazilian top team) and he showed us vale tudo techniques and sport techniques.
  2. when you can't close the triangle instead of using your hand to put your FOOT tighter use you hand to pull your shin in titghter this prevents any attemps of escape,

  5. https://www.graciejiu-jitsu.com carlson gracie+his son are legends in brazilian jiu-jitsu, if i was there(chicago) that would be the first place i would want to train at. bjj and some muay thai would be what your looking for(im assuming) because your description of what you want is very broad, but also look for, jeet kune do schools, jkd is a very well rounded style(excuse me not a style forgot to mention, bjj incoporates throws, takedowns chokes, and joint locks to disable you opponent and mt uses kicks, punches, knees and elbows, good luck
  6. i like using fists but i also use palm strikes and slaps to the ears

  16. protect your face! and if hes a mt fighter lets say, i wouldn't go for the double leg, id probably go for the foot sweep, or high crotch i had boxing lesson today and i underestimated what good strikers can do, so practice your technique alot
  17. well thats a good question ,seein how i have 6 months of bjj under my belt im gonna try and answer that , i would probably, foot sweep him or use a o-soto-gari than hopefully land in a superiour position but lets say he starts throwing strikes, i clinch, we fall ,i would attemp to put him in my guard or take back mount than submit him from there
