what kind of comeptition was this , no-holds-barred? and one mistake that grapplers do alot is they see an opening for a double leg, but its just an illusion. I would much rather, use some judo throws to takedown my opponent, and I am a mma guy not a pure grappler. So I can see both sides of the spectrum. what was the skill of the jjf your sensai was fighting ? I believe you can never "just shoot in" you have to mix it up with at least a combo of kicks and punches, before you go for the takedown. good for your sensai, good luck on your future training. -

I COMPLETELY FORGOT ABOUT THAT JOHNNY, THIS MAN IS FULL OF GOOD IDEAS. seriously biting the guy won't end the fight? -
what happened at ufc 32 philm? and shaq might be bigger than tito, but tito is a PROFFESIONAL FIGHTER and hes DAMN GOOD, and hes not exactly tiny, either. He could definately, not only, beat down shaq, but also submit him when shaq gets beat down. I can't believe this is even a question. Common you have to use your logic. Put Shaq in a cage with Tito and see what happens. tuna can't exactly survive with sharks.

thanks for the suggestion, johnny, -
smith and wesson . what are you talking about oh, all of a sudden elbows belong to bjj. stop writing random, comments, and I study muay thai, so I do know elbows. And if these tma guys are so tough than why don't they compete anymore like they did back in 93,94,95, oh thats right because they got taught a lesson, in pain. and muay thai fighter, studies pankration, which is grappling and striking. which style do you study?

What would you do...

buy some videos, videos would probably do you better than books, and boxing/muay thai/wrestling (im guessing) would be "easier" to learn on your own. and what you don't understand, is that those okinawans, might have done it without teachers. but they did not do it alone. they did it with the help of others, and over a significant period of time. They also had motivation, fight or get tortured/killed, by the samurai. I hope you have your friends help. and what exactly are the objectives of your project? if you don't mind me asking? -

no, I wanted to know how you guys would have handled the situation. don't be an a$$ -
Vale Tudo, is a portuguese term fo anythnig goes, it was coined in brazil, vale-tudo, originally meant, bjj and boxing in a no-holds-barred, fashion. But now alot of people are using the term to describe their arts. Also chute boxe, is another big movement in brazil, its muay thai and bjj. I don't think you should be calling your vale-tudo jkd though, even jkd has its share of techniques that are unique to it alone. "the more complicated stuff is less likely to work" please do not generalise. that might be the case is some martial arts ,but not in bjj, so don';t stereotype. good luck with your training

OK whats your point. who said, we only do double legs, what about single legs, high crotch, and many other throws and takedowns. I don't care if hes from this style or that one. If he fights me , theres a good chance hes goin down. -
I have a yellow belt in kyokushin, a yellow belt in ninjutsu, I did some praying mantis kung fu. I also did a course, called Blauer tactical confrontation management systems. but now, i just train in bjj and some boxing/muay thai

well, smith and wesson, could, you say something smart. And jmy, my bjj is really good, I have been doing it for six months, and I can control people much larger than me, (im 140) and I can control and submit, guys much bigger than I am. my boxing skills are you could say average. and I have, training in a street realistic, combative system called (blauer, tactical, confrontational, management systems). so my muay thai and wrestling skills are average as well. as for taking out the first guy. that would not of been the problem, its for taking out the rest of them. I was actually in a situation where 5 guys attacked me, I jumped on one of their backs and clawed the guys face( blood everywhere). they backed off. But I do not want to rely on cheap tactics. I'd rather improve my technique.
