  3. kinda depends what laws you have where you live. A shot to the throat is a sure fire way of taking an opponent down. if the attacker has a weapon, then you have every right to defend yourself by any means necessary but, if the aggressor does not have a weapon and you hit him only once in the throat and it kills him? to me it would be self defense cause you only hit him once. but sometimes the law doesn't see it that way..

  7. this one is a tuffy.. I would say it is the level of violence that separates the two. for example. being forced to "fight" would be self defense to me.. when you can easily talk or walk away from situation and instead fight the guy then that would be a fight to me..

  9. Kicking isn't so useful in fighting. I'd go with the judo and wrestling. I disagree, kicking could be very useful in a fight, because to me not a lot of people are expecting you to kick in a fight when they encounter you.. I would prob use a low roundhouse, lots of power and low risk..
  10. I think that good body movement could be to keep moving, like sparring for example, you shouldn't stop, stay light on your feet.
  11. I agree. However, I have a friend of mine here that I have seen him take down guys like i have never seen and he has never stepped foot in a dojo.. when I asked him he told me him bought a empty hand Kali video series years ago and has been training in that since???
  12. if you mean a fair fight as one on one then yes that would seem to me like a "fair" fight, but we have to think, is one guy a lot larger, more experienced? trained? has a weapon?? to make it "unfair"? in my opinion fighting dirty is one of the most effective ways of defending oneself.. cause to me, a fight is a fight, its either me or him..
  13. Agreed, do not go on high carb diets before a tournament if you are fighting, you will burn out and you will not perform at you peak. Like everyone had been saying, just eat right and eat smart. Remember when choosing a meal, common sense is the best diet. I disagree, carbohydrates are the most abundant of the four major classes of biomolecules, which also include proteins, lipids and nucleic acids. They fill numerous roles in living things, such as the storage and transport of energy.. carbs is what will keep you form losing the "gas" so quickly?

  16. I believe that a good group of peers may work but, if they have not been trained and have ideas that "seem" logical then all of them are practicing something that may or may not work?? I believe that someone should have a good instructor that hopefully teaches the right ideas then he could get a group of his buddies and practice..

  18. yes also, I believe if they stand up for the crowd then their a "warrior" to me cause in my opinion that is what makes them different.. to make it short, someone who will fight to make a change for example, Police man, firemen and soldiers..
  19. I believe a "warrior" is a person who has the will to act.. they can and will stand up and fight for what they believe in.. I don't believe they have no fear, but control fear.. anybody who is brave enough to be "different" from the crowd and stand up and fight for what he believes in is a warrior in my book.
  20. good choice on Muay Thai, its a good one.. MA does raise confidence for some for the obvious, they know how to hit and more importantly they have been hit and after doing it for a couple of years, the jitters will be gone and you can focus more..
  21. from what I understand right now is that it is both. there is a red huge red ring on the mat and you fight inside it. they recommend that you try to score points using the sabaki method, but not required, also a plus for me. you can throw in tournament!! the competition part is pretty neat, one rule is that you can grab the gi for 3 seconds..?? also, the moving part is exactly what you think it is, to not meet force with force, to move to the side of the opponent.. lots of frontal attacks though like Kyokushin..
  22. JUDO, you can build massive strength in all those areas with it..
