  2. I dont think you should have to hate to admit that at all, thats why I went and thats why I am still there, to learn how to fight. Its called Martial Arts for a reason.
  3. Also, even if the person was trained properly on a certain technique and can perform it PERFECT.. but does not do it in a fully resistant situation, he/she may have a real problem when it comes to an actual fight.. for example: in Judo a person can perform the uchimata 1000 times on an uke just standing there and can perform it perfectly, but has not done it against a fully resisting opponent.. that is the difference between an applicable technique imo.
  4. well I was assuming that we were already talking about someone that knows the technique well enough to use it in a fully resistant situation ie sparring....
  5. maybe I have misunderstood this but, I disagree, good sparring is the ONLY way of finding if techniques are applicable.
  6. 4 hours is way too long imo.. If your classes were anything like mine were then respect for you man if you can go 4 hours....wow
  7. to help with that try to get the opponent to support most of their weight on the leg that you are going to sweep and you can do that by taking him to his "corner" when doing the technique so when you do the sweep your taking all his body weight out from him.
  8. well if ya get caught then you wouldnt be very good Ninjas now would you? O.O I say go to a Walmart and pass out flyers in your costume telling them about "Ninja awareness month" the month the ninjas attack the most and you are there to protect them.. Okay before I get flamed.... it was a joke so dont do it... but seriously
  9. Woot! it has the O soto Gari, love that throw, works great on even the largest opponents.
  10. Thank you for the replies, I feel like such a newby cause almost all of my MA training has been Judo but for the time being I am going to focus a lot on my defense game ie blocks, Parrys (sp?) evasive techniques and such. I liked the kick counter technique, bushido.
  11. Hello all, I apologize if I have posted this before but I have been away from the forums for a bit. I would like to hear some reaction time drills that you guys do, rather it be putting on boxing gloves and doing evasion techniques, whatever it is, I am open to all types.
  12. Judo Gi Karate Gi kicking bag Boxing gloves cup ( important O.O ) makiwara
  13. a BB means to me that a person is a "master" of the basics.
  14. KIDS? W/ BB's? I arrest my case.[/b]
  15. I guess that requirement rules out a lot of adults as well... I will take my chances....
  16. I believe that when you "train" you get the combo, you get the fit with it..
  17. Agreed, very nicely put..
  18. I have seen this type of mindset in others, too. Some people, regardless of rank, are just not cut out to be instructors. agreed.. Also, We are talking about something that could maybe mean life or death and imo, I would rather learn that from somebody who is an adult and can maybe shine some light maybe from experience... dont think many 12 year olds been robbed at gun point lately...
  19. Kinda sounds like Small Circle Jujutsu..
  20. agreed, nothing is better than the real thing.
