  3. Welcome to the forums.
  4. Funny thing, I always concentrate on deeper breathing and have avoided those things. However, the other day I ran and forgot to breath and bam, there it was. Good tip KickChick.
  5. KK1975 How did you get out of your contract? I'm glad to hear you made the move.
  6. One advantage is that if you move for a job, you are likely to find a kenpo/kempo school in most major areas.
  7. The basics for Shaolin Kempo start with the Tiger like moves simular to Shotokan (as they are easier for most to learn in the early stages) but move quickly into more "Shaolin" movements. Shaolin Kempo has the influence of the 5 animals (Tiger, Crane, Dragon, Snake, and Leopard) and the system revolves around the 4 types of fighting (punching, kicking, felling, and grappling). Check out WWW.Villari.net for more info on Shaolin Kempo and https://www.24fightingchickens.com for Shotokan. The main difference that I have experienced is that Shotokan is very linear and direct and Shaolin Kempo moves away from that as you advance into a more circular and soft style like its Kung Fu origins. I hope this helps.
  8. It's kinda like that old foreign blessing: OWA TAJER KIAM!
  9. DBB Welcome!
  10. Monkeygirl, with your skill level I can think of several ways that you could have shown him in about 7 seconds. The kata was probably a better choice.
  11. Have you ever thought of calling the union and demanding that they step in and meet with management? It is management's responsibility to provide a hassle free, non-intimidating, and safe workplace. If many of you feel this way then there is safety in numbers and your union rep should be able to handle this one. If you decide to take matters into your own hands, you may be the one getting disciplined, arrested, looking for a new job, looking for new teeth, or if you do finish it, looking over your shoulder for the sequel. If you are looking into starting MA, then check around and visit a few places, but do it for the right reasons. Good luck.
  12. Great advice. Especially your shoulders. When they are tight then your punches really suffer. It takes your whole body to do an effective technique and when you are tense you tend to throw punches with just your arms or kicks with just your legs.
  13. Welcome to the forums 554life. You may want to ask your question in the general section. Good luck and enjoy KF.

  21. Well I got hit on the side of the neck during a choke technique and it felt like I got shocked by a 110 volt line...I know cause I got shocked wiring something in my house two days before. It was the exact same feeling. Could this be the nerve?
  22. I'll just stick to saying "Welcome".
  23. Welcome, it's nice to have you here.
  24. Hmmm... this type of training could catch on...NOT...I guess he has a lot of time on his hands...
