  1. I have made this post more times than a little. LOL. I hate them more or less. 1. Simple to bloack 2. They are slower 3. Smaller targer that can move faster 4. if your not loose you hurt yourself more by trying them. 5. Allows you to be taken down Just search my name and read all the bad things I have to say about them. LOL
  2. When you are in dress clothes and dress shoes. Kicks are much less sucessful. Common sense will tell you its hard to kick in clothes that are not confortable. If you are in bad weather such as mud, rain, wind, your balance is off. At the same time if you are on rocks, or going up or down a hill its differant that a flat dojo floor. Stick with low kicks you have a better chance of landing one with sucess. KISS Keep it Simple Stupid
  3. I am not a fan of TKD.... However you can learn for everything. If you think it fits you as a fighter and artist then go for it.
  4. Do not buy light weight. Its cheep but they don't last long. Middle weight is the best for most. I perfer heavy but I like to get a good sweat going. Makes me feel good. LOL.. As far as sizes go make sure you get the waist correct. You can always cut the legs off and make them fit. The realy question is to go with Elastic, Lace Up or Traditional style pants. To each his or her own.
  5. I am a karate person but to work with 2 or more attackers the key is to keep moving. Don't give them a target to focus on. When at all possible use the attackers agaist each other as a shield, blocker, etc. Many people say don't get your back to a wall I dieagree. I think if you can protect you blind side by getting something solid there. Above all else do not go to the ground in multi attacker situations.
  6. No Holds Barred fights. Look in the Combat, Ju-Jitsu, and other sections for info on them.
  7. I think the title is given to 5th dans in Shotokan. However I do not call anyone Master. That title is reserved for the all mighty.
  8. Yeah if you control the wrist oddly enough you control the person. You would be shocked at how much you can control someone just by holding it right.
  9. Welcome from us here in the USA. I wonder how many countries we have members from?
  10. I love it Ryan and Colin kill me....
  11. I just start at the top and come down.
  12. G. E. T. Groin Eyes Throat
  13. Only when fighting really short people. I have made many posts talking about the dangers of it in real life. If I throw a head kick its whle they are on the ground. We basically do not teach or practice them in class. They look nice but a kick to the knee will do much more and it is much less risky.
  14. Do I think he was the best MA ever? Na Do I think he was a good MA? Yes Do I think he changed MA forever? No question yes Do I think he is more responsible than anyone for MA becomming main stream? Yeap Could he win a UFC or K1? I doubt it Bruce is like Babe Ruth. Its not that he was so great its that he was really good and he was the first one to ever do it and do it good.
  15. One of your question can be answered in the Art vs Art section. A skilled fighter in any style has a good shot at winning at any time. Style don't mean much. You can't coach heart, and tuffness.
  16. Welcome to KF
  17. Welcome to KF
  18. Its good to do both. They may be all left you never know. However I would bet it is some sort of idea that it gives them a advantage because it is less common.
  19. Yeah WV is a poor state and most things are a bit lower. Most of the time its a 10.00 sign up, then 10.00 for each event.
  20. It will go away some with time. However you may want to look into wearing long pants. I dont suggest pads but joggin pants or something may give you a bit more protection. Prehaps wear some high socks and MA shoes. This is not a serious pain. Its about the same as someone slapping you on the back. It burns but its not going to kill you. Tuff it out and with time it will not be as bad.
  21. I think you need to stretch 3 days a week realy good. Espcially the hamstrings and hips. You don't need to go much more than 10mins. To maintain flexability not as much.
  22. Congrats KK75. 10.00 an event is what most tourny charge in WV. However like I have said on here with class rates we are a poor state. Still yet thats a good deal.
  23. IF you looking for strikes looking into elbows and palms. As far as an art look into something like Hapkido. Lost of joint and wrist locks.
  24. Burnout is huge. We change our weight lifting program every month for out football team because of this.
  25. Tuff Call I really don't think I would. That may not be the right thing to do. I do think I would call the cops. The cops would then have access to the medical support if needed. I really can't see anything worse than a busted nose or broken arm happening in most street fights. In that case no way do I call because the way people are today the mugger would try and take you to court because he attacked you and got beat up. LOL.... I don't geuss thats really funny.
