Judo Throws in Self-Defense.
G95champ replied to JKDfreak's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
I love the hip toss. I teach it as my one the first SD throws. It can be used from a lot of differant postions and anyone can do it reguardless of size. Add to that it puts you in a good finishing postion. -
Its hard to do but I used to lift at 7am for about 2 months. I felt so good durring the day. However as a month and then a few weeks went by I found it harder and harder to go early. That extra sleep just felt so good at the time. LOL Good luck. I went about one hour.

Striking Styles for Short people
G95champ replied to Karateka_latino's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
What if a short person fights an even shorter person then he would be the tall person. So don't they not need a striking art that is good for tall people? Like you said above all arts can change to fit the user. Ht., Wt. Age, Injury its just and excuse not a reason. Don't get hung up on what you can't do we all have things we can't do well physicalyl but we can work mentally and focus on the other things we are good at. -
Strength training for the Martial Artist
G95champ replied to Eye of the Tiger's topic in Health and Fitness
To Max out for one rep is not good but to do high weight for like 5 sets of 4 is great to build muscle. However this is not a good MA workout. Because it works on bulk and hurts your flexability and motion. -
No Im not nuts a bit Radical but not nuts. LOL.

muay thai and old age
G95champ replied to Xtreme Fury's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
Relax and please watch you use of certin words. I love to see people as emotional but this is just a discussion board so please take it for that. We all have ideas we think are best so lets express them freely. Again please watch the words you use. Thanks -
When we do (full contact) we treat it like this. If you think you land a shot that could hurt you buddy stop and pull back. We call it SHOCK. Again like the poster said above full contact is not full force. When we go full contact we may thorw leg kicks as hard as we can but we would never try and punch someone between the eyes as hard as we could. When we do what we call full contact it pretty much means go hard but don't try and hurt each other.

muay thai and old age
G95champ replied to Xtreme Fury's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
Kung Fu and even a lot of the Japan arts allow you to do them well into you life because of things like Kata. As opposed to the constant banging of bone on bone in Muay Thai. It don't mean you can not still do it as you get older but you can not train in your 30's at the same leval you did in you late teens. -
You give me 100 runners and you stretch 50 of them out and let the other 50 start with no warm up work. You run a 100m dash X number of times. I will bet the farm more of the ones in the group who did NOT stretch will be hurt and loose more often.

My bet would be on single parent homes. Or better yet the lack of a home life. We take religon out of schools and if you don't get morals at home you killing people just don't mean much to you. But I still think it smells of Iraq. Thats just me. If I were going to fight the USA thats how I would attack us. It don't cost much and you don't have to "go to war" to do it. BTW they are all arround DC ya know.

Welcome glad you came back.

Old High School Football saying in West Virginia Players WIN and Coaches Loose.... Sort of the same thing you are talking about. The Great Vince Lombardi said something to the effect you cant teach those who dont want to learn and those who want to learn do need to be taught.

Squats and Lunges. You can use weight or not. Just do them and your hips will get stronger. However the key to strong kicks is speed and hitting a target. So buy a heavy bag and just work you kicks on it.

Welcome

My bet is it has ties to Iraq and 911.

Welcome.

Most systems of karate will have a focus on kata but that don't mean they don't teach you how to fight or should I say defend yourself.

self-defense in a tournament
G95champ replied to BladeLee's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Well I have never saw a SD event in a tourny. However as far as nerves go just relax and react. If you do that everything else will take care of itself. -

TSD is a nice art. One of the more well rounded ones.
