Fist of all if the kid did moves on you they did not take anyting. If they did they would know better. At least I would hope so. Any style of MA will give you some Self Defense. As far as Kung Fu and Ninjitus go I would not worry about it. Its not the art its the person doing the art. However you may want to read in the art vs. art section to see what other have to say. Im sure there is a thread on it. LOL.....

You are welcome. Hope to keep reading about your art.

KarateForums.com Fantasy Hockey League

Ill be there. -
Im sure anytime you choke someone its dangerous. However when they are attacking you, your need to take care of yourself first. Im not saying kill them with a choke but you can control them with one. In college I broke up 2 fights but stepping in and choking a guy. I would apply pressure when he relaxed I would let up some. if he moved in anger again I would squeeze back down. I did not put him to sleep. Im sure I could have but I used it to control him.

If you bench press 100lbs or 300lbs do you think it will make a differance in how had you hit? Weight Training will help with anything.

Tito Ortiz.....A real champion or not?
G95champ replied to BlueDragon1981's topic in Pro Fighting Matches and Leagues
Again I have nothing aginst Ortiz I love to watch him fight. You may be right. In fact I would agree that you are right that a lot of people are more show with their attitudes but IMO a champion should be respectful. Im sure Ortiz is a great guy. Win with class and loose with class. -
Which race is best in FIGHT and Martial Arts

You are correct Tobias. I never really studied the Illiad. I have coverd the Odyssey several times. Everytime in HS or College the teacher would give a quick run over of the Illiad. I guess I should have taken some time and checked up on my facts. Paris was the king or something of Troy right?

Tito Ortiz.....A real champion or not?
G95champ replied to BlueDragon1981's topic in Pro Fighting Matches and Leagues
Because Martial Arts is all about respect. Like I said Ortiz is a great fighter (one of the best). I would give him good odds aginst anyone. Yes he has won many championships but the belt does not make one a champion. IMO he does not show the character traits a true champion should thats all. -
Fighting..tense...arg, please help
G95champ replied to BladeLee's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Once we start to second guess our ability we are in trouble you may be doing that some. However we all do and you will come out of it. However maybe you have not changed your style enough. We all have pattrens we fight in. When you spar the same person over and over they pick up on what you like to do. When I was in college I had my 2nd Dan in Shotokan and I was a mid rank in American TAO. I used to spar with another guy who was blue belt in American TAO 3 times a week. I was a lot better Martial Artist than him. However where we sparred so much he picked up my combos and stuff I used a lot. Thus when we would spar in class he could beat me a lot because he knew what I liked to do. I picked up on his as well but you know I was expected to win. LOL.... Point is if you don't change you get passed by. Im not saying throw out the playbook and start over Im just saying think about what you do. Do you always lead into moves the same way. Do you have a certin timming. Do you give moves away by looking or flintiching. The only other thing might be is the guy is a better MA than you though he was LOL. Good luck. -
Baseball players do Kiai. I bet everyone you hear swing or pitch lets out a big grunt. Watch weight lifters if they don't grunt and hiss. Lord knows football players do it. There are many differant ways to Kiai you don't always have to yell or screem.

You know mistakes happen in sparring. We have busted noses and lips all the time. Differance in excessive contact and a mistake IMO is if the 2 are mad at each other. 90% of the time I find it to just be a mistake. Someone stepped in or misjudged distance etc. If your looking for contact get in full contact MA. If you don't want in it just by some really nice faceguards. LOL.

Many Many Many other posts on this subject in other sections of the Fourms. However just for the reccord I disagree with kid blackbelts 110 % of the time. It is an injustice to the art and other blackbelts IMO... No way they have the mental ability it takes even if they do have the physical....

Bon I agree KickChick you have done your part. 1. You are not the teacher. Even if you was you have the right not to train someone if you see fit. You don't have to give reason. I have told people who came to class before NO because they had a rep. for fighting and stuff. 2. Way too many people teach before they are ready. I don't think you can set and age on it. its more a mental thing, I think. However if you feel you are not ready to teach don't and more importantly if you do not want to teach don't. I assume the guys you are training with are about your rank and you all have worked together a lot in and out of class thats is not teaching that is practice. To bring a rookie into that situation you would be doing him a great injustice. (BTW you see to have a lot of knowledge and one day you will make a fine teacher if you choose that path Im sure) Just learn some kata.... LOL

EndZone Freestyle Fighting System

Welcome both of you all need to introduce yourself's in the intro section. Keep us updated on how the style comes out. -
I will never stop watching. The 94 strike stoped me from watching as much as I once did. Big Mac himself got me back in the game in the late 90's. I hope they go on strike and I hope the Owners bring in replacement players and finish the season. Play ball without them. Its the game not the players we love.....

Uniforms in Public Schools Or No Uniforms?
G95champ replied to BlueDragon1981's topic in General Chat
Leaf I agree if a school district gets its PTA together and the voters choose to wear uniforms that is Democracy at its best. I have no problem with that. I am just against forcing people to wear unifroms. One thing that slips the minds of many people. It is not the schools job to teach the kids morals. Its our job to teach the 3 R's but we are forced to teach morals and behavior now. The Mommy and the Daddy and the church should do that. Like I said I completely agree that uniforms have a huge upside however in a public school district I would never cast a vote for them reguardless the situation. Dress Code you bet, but not uniforms. -
No question my brother is 6'7 295. He plays football at WVU. He has not done much karate with me but he will spar with me just for fun. When he swings those big 70lbs legs at you its something to think about. The key with them in real life is much differant. I know I can take his knee out at will. This is the weakness of any big man. However you don't do that in class and to friends and family.

The Art of Fighting Without Fighting
G95champ replied to Ti-Kwon-Leap's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
This is what being a true Martial Artist is about. If you can win a fight without fighting. That should be everyone's ultimate goal. -
As far as a set move. Na however you can put anthing together and make a nice combo. Its Martial ARTS not Martial Scirence. Art is up to each person to make his onw. In science there is fixed moves. I often mix up several hand strikes like that in my Shotokan class just to teach the kids on changing hand postions. Also makes them think. LOL... Lots of times multi punch and kick combo are not fighting combo but combos to build speed and like I said change hand postions. Good luck....
