if you have done something similar it always helps some techniques are always going to be related. For example Its easier to learn Physics once your good at maths although extra work is needed to learn the new stuff

New to MA

Personally I would pick Wing Chun Gung Fu. Most of the masters of the style have a small build and im sure it would suit you. It helps the little guys sort out the bigger guys. It may not be the best for overall fitness but your going to get a toned back and triceps. The chi sao (pushing hands) is also quite a work out if done properly. -

Tao of Jeet Kune Do
Jay replied to Jeet Kune Do's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
Yeah its a hard read but im only 16 and i can understand it and im not that good at english by confusing you it is clearing your mind of all else so its still working -
Everybody has more to learn as a human being we learn everyday even if you are still trying to learn something that you have already been taught. I agree that when you teach another person you tend to think more about everything in the technique where as when your learning it you think of one thing at a time. I dont teach although i have taught some friends some shotokan in exchange for some other techniques. If you wish you can invent your own style however its one thing learning it and another teaching someone else to do it. I have expanded my knowledge from other sources and have learned about other styles through research and then applying that information to help me. Thus in a way i have created my own style. Im not going to teach anybody as i need to learn more. Im quite young and can sometimes get a bit arrogant and think I know everything (everyone does this once in a while for some reason). But after making a mistake or not doing as well as i think i should (be able to beat everyone due to thinking i knew it all) I realise I have more to learn and thats the fun part thinking about it i would never want to know everything because i think that would be boring. if you think you knwo everything you might as well stop because you go to learn.

Tell me about JKD
Jay replied to ShotokanKid's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
JKD just 'is' its a name. Its not bruces way to fight its your way to fight. Its up to you everybody has a different interpretation of the same thing. In JKD theirs no right or wrong way of doing somehting as long as it works. JKD is your way. -

I would agree with bruce lee his ideas where just so good and the thing that gives me hope was that he made himself that good through hard work -
Does anyone else have a goal in mind?
Jay replied to tkdan's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I want to be able to express myself truthfull -
You have enough time to get in shape for the run and recover properly but knowing the form is difficult in limited time. It depends if you have to pay i dont have to pay for my gradings and therefore i try if i fail i work on what i got wrong. Theres no guarentee that your good enough even if you can do the run and learn the form perfectly intructors as you will know take everything into account. If it was me i would go for it as long as your not injured you dont want to cause any more damage(Injurys always happen at the wrong times) dont be afraid of faliure it is only in adversary do we get to know our true strengths.
