  1. Yeah, I was worried about that. I'm heading to the sports store after work to pick up some stuff. Thanks guys!
  2. It's that time again.... HAPPY FRIDAY! My Wife and I are hosting a Texas Hold'em game tonight. We're also making our own pizza's from scratch.
  3. Well, I haven't picked one yet, I have just been visiting several different dojo's, in different styles. I made a big mistake last time, and I want to make sure this one is the right one. I'm still partial to the Shorei-Ryu though. For some reason, I just cannot get into Kung-Fu. Not sure why. Still looking, I have some time. Thanks for the info!
  4. I think you did very well. Sparring against a muay thai fighter I'm sure is no joke. Let me be the first to say, "Congrats" You learn from your mistakes
  5. http://www.karatedepot.com/bx-bg-60.html There leaving my knucles pretty banged up. I give the bag hell, and I think it gives my hands hell. I'm going to go out tonight and by wraps to protect my hands, but I thought these gloves would be padding enough. Anyone else have this problem? This is my first time really hitting the bag hard for a long period of time. Before I was just shadow boxing. Thanks!
  6. Try to get yourself to a local track. Sprint ( As fast as you can) on the straight away, and slowly jog the curves. Do this as much as you can. This will build up your endurance. I'm not sure if it will do this in a weeks time, but it doesn't hurt to try. Shadow boxing is good too. You really don't get the full effect, unless you make contact, but I shadow boxed without a bag for 4 months, did me some good. Work your way up to 3 minute rounds, but try to go to 2 minutes for now. Rest for 45 seconds to a minute, then go back at it. Just like a boxing match. Pretend your opponent is hitting you. Make sure you breathe with every punch. Try to do 8-10 round. It's a great "Anaerobic" workout. I do this 4 times a week, then run about 2-3 miles after that. Sheading fat like crazy!
  7. Right you are. I think it's great that you care about your body. If more people did that, the less temptation we would have (McDonalds, M&M's, junk food) Keep going dude. I started out being very fat, and now 1 year later, I have pretty good definition and my abs are starting to show. I have worked and continue to work very hard for my body. Keep at it. One day, it will all pay off, for the rest of your life
  8. Yeah, that would nice to have. I asked for that before, got some ok links...nothing great. I think the biggest tournament to my knowledge is the US Open in Florida. It's every summer at Orlando.
  9. You know what.... didn't really read this before, but now that I have...... did you mean to say "Black belt", not Orange? I mean... my God... that's a lot for an Orange belt. I can't wait to see your post for Black
  10. Yeah, that's kind of the same situation I'm in. My current instructor wants me to start teaching more and possibly be chief instructor at one of their schools, but I don't have the time. I'm working on a proposal where I can work from home (Computer programming) that would allow me more time. Hopefully it will fly. Good luck with yours as well! Aodhan Wow, that would be awesome! Good luck with that! It makes me sad everyday to know that I should be training, but the way I look at it, I have been waiting all my life to study a MA, I can wait another 2 months
  11. Well, I have found 2 great dojo's, however both are of different styles. 1. Shorei-Ryu Karate 2. Wing Chun Kung-Fu Both have great Sensei/Sifu, both are great in price, one is a little distance away, but nothing crazy. Right now, I'm just trying to find the time to get back into it. Work has been asking a lot of me, and it's hard to say no, when I need the money. My 2nd love has become Martial arts, so it's something that I will get back into, however I think it will have to wait until after the new year
  12. Cool. I'll give those a shot! Thanks
  13. Wind Sprints. Helps build up your endurance. Try going at a punching bag (8 rounds, 2 minute rounds, 1 minute rest, in between the rests, doing pushups and alternate with sit-ups) Shadow box.
  14. A good breathing technique always helps me. Running. Hitting the bag.
  15. What do you guys use to gauge how far your stretching is going? Kinda like a fat caliper to gauge how much body fat you have. Come on, I know you guys aren't using protractors I was thinking of setting up a board, and having my wife mark my feet. Kinda like seeing how tall you are. Any other ideas?
  16. Gotcha. I got away from the PC gaming a while back after Counter Strike. Too many key's. I like having a set group of buttons where I don't constantly have to keep looking down. Let me know though if you find anything good.
  17. I've heard that was a good movie. HUH? I thought it was a good movie. Probably one of the better paradies that I have seen. i assume you're talking about kung fu hustle.. i don't know, it was ok.. but it was too much.. a chinese version of kung pow.. Now there I agree with you. Kung Pow was just plain ol' stupid! I walked out of that movie theater. Did you really? My TKD instructor does that all the time. -Adam Walk out of the theater? Yup. If it looks stupid, I'm out. I would rather go home and read a nice book, surf the net, or watch some TV, then sit through something that I'm just going to say "Wow... that stunk!"
  18. You might want to look into Splinter cell, the third one. But, other than that...nothing with stealth. You could alway use cheat codes
  19. Awesome! Good luck!

  22. I'm going out and picking that up this weekend. Looking forward to it. I watched it last night, not bad........a martial art movie with great acting. you don't see that very often. -Adam LOL... no you don't
