  1. You would be better off duct taping two 16lb bowling balls together to a broom stick and curling that. Personally, you can get a better gym for half the cost. I got my olympic gym (with preacher bench, pull down & pull up features, plus 400lbs in plate weights) for $500. I have had it for 3 months, and it's awesome, and I have seen huge differences in my body!
  2. The opening sceen was cool.... but come on, deflecting a rocket with a tray? It was almost as bad a TripleX
  3. Lunges, squats, calf raises, you might even be able to pull off some "good mornings". Check out this website http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/exercises.htm Click on the muscle you want to hit, and it will show you tons of ways to work it.
  4. Yeah, I guess I feel the same way. I know it's going to take time, and patients. How many times a week (not in class) do you spend stretching?
  5. I noticed he said he was yellow. Now... granted, I'm still new to this, but at what point do you consider yourself ready for tournament? Not, my school doesn't really focus on WTF, more traditional. now.... let's say I did want to compete, what would I do?
  6. I know..... I know... stretch. I just wanted to get a general feel for how long it took some of you to get your kicks a little higher, or even to start to notice a slight elevation in your kick or split/stretch
  7. I watch MA movies while I workout (for cardio) In my workout room, I have pictures of myself (before I lost 60lbs) and now. That really modivates me.
  8. I don't know about that pain is gain slogan, because if you ignore that then you migh go past your limit and hurt yourself.Well, no.... you don't want to injure yourself, but you need to get out of your comfort zone. If you feel you can go a little further, do it. But, tell yourself you can.
  9. I would do a little more research on this. I have meet with people who study it and they say it's very hard. They were happy to have studied another MA before had for balance. It's mainly used to keep the other person guessing about your balance, and not knowing where the attack is going to come from.
  10. "Go-Go Power Rangers" J/K.... I would say no. I was told to forget about the flashy stuff when you're in a fight. Most people will just freeze though. If you have a gun at your head, and someone tells you to give them your wallet, I'm not going to think about flipping, just handing over my wallet
  11. Check this site out https://www.blackbeltshop.com
  12. Yeah, it's not a relaxing feeling, but pain is gain. As long as you don't do it incorrectly, I don't see it being a problem. Our masters wife is a professional physical therapist. I have gotten a lot of really good stretching advice from her. I have also learned to tune out pain and exhaustion, from lifting weights. If you tell yourself it's too much, then you'll stop. If you tell yourself there is nothing to it, then you can do it. It's a mental and emotional mind game. But, whatever suites you best. Good luck!
  13. I pay $200 a month. I know that is a lot, but the doors are open for almost 14 hours every day, but Sunday, I have access to every class (weapons, tactical self-defence) The guy that taught the CIA ops, FBI ops, NAVY Seals, and Special Ops, taught my instructors and they're certified to teach us. It's pretty cool stuff. The question I asked myself was "can you put a price on happienss, and good training?" I have yet to be un-impressed by this place. Besides, after like 2 years, it goes down to $50 bucks for the rest of my life.
  14. I stretch every day, except Sunday's. This is what I do. Back on the ground, but on the wall, legs spread as far as I can, and I push my knees to the wall. Keeping my feet and toes pointed to me as long as I can for calf stretching. I'll do this for ten minutes (Holding) Then..... I'll do various stretches. I have been doing this for 3 weeks now, and have noticed a big difference. Good luck!

  18. Age is just a number. Jhoon Rhee is 74 years old, and can do 100 pushups in less than 60 seconds. I just started taking TKD, and I'm 23.
  19. I get to meet Grand Master Jhoon Rhee in one week at a black belt graduation. He's 73 I believe, and a 10th dan.
  20. The Jhoon Rhee school gave me one month free to try it out.
  21. I choose the Jhoon Rhee school. So far, I'm loving it. The head instructor has taken time to help me with my stretching technique and stance!
  22. I'm in the Baltimore area, and I'm looking for a great school for TKD. I guess what I'm looking for is a place that is not focused so much on the sport, but more the traditional art. Also, in TKD, can you train with weapons? Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks! Chris
  23. Hello to all! I would like to get into Karate and other MA in my area, but I don't know what is a good Dojo. I don't want to sign up at the nearest one and hate it. Can anyone in here point me in the right direction? I looked for a local forum, but didn't see anything. I'm in Crownsville, MD. I'm willing to travel 45 minutes. Thanks, Chris
