  1. Personally, I'm not firmiliar with the Gripmaster. As far goes at the pull-ups, how old are you?
  2. I second that. Royce Gracie, or Ali (and you can't say that he's still not alive). Granted... Ali cannot compete at all anymore, but he was awesome!
  3. I agree! Take a free lesson at every class. You will find more than one to your liking. I'm sure everyone on here would love to cross train, but there is also a money issue, as well as time to pratice both arts. Good luck, and welcome to the forum!
  4. Like said above....Cardio will help improve this
  5. WOW! I'm sure the pictures don't even do it justice. Good luck with the clean up! You guys are in my prayers!
  6. Yes the forms I am doing right now are tough, and make me VERY exahausted if I do them right..they have tons of techniques in them, and are very powerful..so yes they are tough. Thats awsome. Tough training builds touch character. I hope to someday be able to train hard like this!
  7. I admire your dilligence to keep at this, even in college. A friend of mine gave up and took up the art of Miller Lite when he went to college.
  8. 1. Yes, no one twisted my arms. It was my fault for not reseaching this. I didn't know I was getting into something that if down the road if I didn't like, or couldn't do anymore... I wouldn't have a way out. -Personally, this is a joke. Why keep someone somewhere when they're not happy. MA is about teaching. If a student no longer wants to learn, or cannot learn... why do you want to keep them? 2. I have read the contract over and over again. It only states Moving, and Medical reasons for leaving. I have shown this contract to a family member who is a lawyer. She told me it's binding, and is going to be hard to break. - I have found a loop hole in this, and a way out. I'm choosing not to discuss it until this is over. 3. I did like this school when I first started. I felt they had a lot to offer. However, it was after signing up I realized some of the practices in this place, and how things were done that left me with a very sour taste in my mouth. - This has been a true learning experiance, and one that I cannot wait for to be over. I wasn't smart when looking into this, and didn't use my best judgement. Since this has happened, I have been to 4 other MA schools in my area, and have discusses with every instructor in details what I expect, and what their expectations are. You have to fall to learn, I feel that this has truely helped me not only in my MA training, but in life itself. I know I will get outta this, It's just going to be a little longer. Thank you all for support and advice. I will discuss this in full with detail once this is over. -O
  9. I agree. The place I'm at now told me that I could even skip a belt, if I showed that I was good. Sour taste man...... Just a plain sour taste!
  10. Cool. Thank you!
  11. Cool. Thanks for your imput.
  12. Reading things like this make me want to take Muay Thai more and more. However... there is just something about getting the crap beaten outta you, and not being able to work.... just doesn't do it for me.
  13. Forgive the begginer question, and I'm sure I can find it on the web, but I just love chatting on hear. What's the difference between TSD, and TKD?
  14. I did some reading on Royce Gracie's book. Look's like just the basics of body building, which can be found for free here https://www.bodybuilding.com. I live at the website, along with this one. That website has helped me greatly. Check it out, if you haven't already!
  15. I have been looking around, and the only thing I can find that looks to be important tourney in the MA world is the US Open in Orlando, FL. It sucks cause of my Job, I cannot go that time of the year. Maybe.... I don't know. I'm no where near ready for that type of comp though.
  16. I agree with you there. That's all I hear from my friends when I tell them I'm heading to class.
  17. Kumite still says it's in production according to this http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000241/ , but that doesn't mean anything. I don't follow K-1 too closely either, but that would certian help or hurt him if he was to compete. Help his rep if he won, and looked good, and kill hurt if he lost... probably his rep, and acting career.
  18. I could never hit a woman!.... unless she has a beard, a mullet, and wears a flannel shirt with ripped of sleaves...... basically, needs to walk, talk, and act like a man. If I'm getting the crap kicks outta me, I'm going to defend myself.
  19. I couldn't agree with you more. I would be willing to go.
  20. LOL... yeah, that's what I thought. The place I'm looking at does that style of training, there just isn't a beach around. I run at parks, tracks and my tread mill. Nothing is as tough as a beach run. Especially if you do it where you chase the waves, then they chase you. Keeps your mind off the run, but wow do your legs hurt afterwards. A friend and I went for a two mile jog/run on the beach this past summer. I had been training for a while, so I thought I was ready. Man.... we went out at the busy part of the day. We were dodging kids left and right. Probably the best workout. I was so tired afterwards!
  21. Nice. Very impressive training. I thought I trained hard. Are your forms tough? Require a lot of energy?
  22. Damn... that sucks man. Sorry to hear about that. My heart goes out to you and your family. Sorry about the mag too
  23. Your ABS are just like every other muscle, they need time to rest, or they will never grow. Too much training is not good. There is nothing special about them, except for the fact that you need low body fat to see them. Genetics helps too. I work my ABS every other day. I do crunches, ball crunches, weighted crunches (pull downs) and leg lifts. Siccor kicks are good too
  24. Cool. Let's try this again. Any info or links/videos on flashy escrima moves?
