  1. Gotcha! Thanks guys for the input. I'm not training to be a boxer, nor do I think I will step into the ring, but I love that type of cardio, it's fun, and it's puts time away fast. Running on a treat mill, and a cycle is so boring. This stuff gets me pumped. I'll try the 3 minute round, then rest for a minute & The 20 second speed interval, then rest for 40. Thanks again!
  2. Yeah, I'm not to intersted in it, but I thought I would give it a shot. I don't want to limit myself. I want to get a broad range of MA before I finally make up my mind. So far, I have attended a Aikido class, TKD (currently enrolled) Shotokan class, a TKD mixed with Karate (not sure what style) and this Shorei-ryu class. I'm checking out at Shorin-Ryu class, and the Wing Chun next week. I know I'm jumping around, I just won't want to wonder, what if
  3. That was the one question I forgot to ask. This is still quite new to me. Is it looked down apon if there dojo is not part of an organization?
  4. I was wondering the same. I don't know , but the dude looks hungry. Look he ate part of his hate
  5. Bingo! You get what you pay for Spend the money now, not later!
  6. Patches. The place I'm at now has us looking like nascar drivers. I hate that. I also hate when the dojo name and picture of someone doing something is on the back of the gi. Whey do you need all this? I can understand the american flag, or the flag of the art you're studying, but that's it. You don't need 10 different patches to symbolize who/what/where/when/how you are Sorry for the rant
  7. LOL..... damn... that was a while ago!
  8. LOL! Thanks WW! It will be a pain to have to lift it onto the chains everyother day, but I'm willing to do that, so it will stay in place. I wish I had only thought of this before. I also didn't know a bag was going to be given to me. Those old army bags are tough, probably just as tough as a P-bag.
  9. Yup. Website is... http://www.shadowdragondojo.net/ Websites has some good info on it, everything but the price. I was thinking that was to lure you in and kill you, but it wasn't bad $85 a month Still researching and looking around too. Checking out a Wing Chun class next week. Mainly cause a friend at work is preaching about it. Figured I'll give it a shot. O
  10. Yeah, well...... Just kidding. I'm still not in that great of shape. I'm getting there, but I hope this improves my cardio. Little by little. You being a boxing man, how do you know when to push yourself more on the bag. When you feel tired, when your hands (that have gloves on them) start to feel that burn, when your arms just can't stay up anymore. Anymore advice you can give me to maybe help this workout? Pointers, additions, subtraction? I just threw this together. Keep in mind to, I also lift weight on the other days, and my abs are done then too. I'm taking the next 2 weeks off from lifitng though, due to a wrist pain.
  11. Well, It's empty. I'm taking it back. Maybe worth $50, but not $100. In my opinion, it's not a good bag. They shouldn't advertise water holding it down. My uncle has a hanging bag that he is going to give me. I'm going to hang it in my workout room, and just remove it when I don't need it.
  12. Thanks man! Didn't see that! I'll give that a shot!
  13. "Abs are made in the kitchen" is a known saying. Simply means, if your diet sucks, so will your abs. It is possible to bulk and cut. I'm living proof. I have dropped over 65lbs, and bulked up. Not that much, but enough for people to notice a difference. Now, if I increase my carloric intake, then I would shorely go up more in mass, however, this would hinder my chances for a six pack, as I do still sit at 17% body fat (down from 36%). Usually, if you hit 13% your abs will start to show. My upper, and part of my middle abs are start to come though, when I workout, and work them. I usually cannot see them unless I'm standing in certain light. I still have a ways to go, but I can tell you, it's all in what you want, and where you want to be.
  14. Well, you want to try and take in a good clean carb before a workout. Atleast 90 minutes prior. Other wise, you'll be upchucking it, burping it up, or it will not be in your system to give you the energy. I like to eat 1/2 cup to a cup of 100% oatmeal mixed with 1/2 cup of strawberries chopped. I add in a little bit of splenda. Fills you up, and gets ya ready for a beating. Post-workout, I add Whey with water to 1/2 cup of oatmeal. You need to replenish the carbs you just used up.
  15. I saw it. I must admit, it had it's moments, and it wasn't that bad of a movie for poking fun. I'd buy it
  16. I would, but I don't have a drop ceiling. It's all dryway, and it's stuck'o I'll probably just try sand.
  17. Also, I have tired just about every protein shake out there, Whey IMO is the best, and the Double Chocolate is the best tasting. Tastes like hot chocolate, only at room temp Good luck, and keep us up to date!
  18. Not a problem No, you want to use water for protein shakes after a workout. Reason being, you have about 30-40 minutes after the muscle has been worked to get protein into your system to the muscle. Water is the quickest way to do this. If you use milk, your body will have to break the milk down first, then absorb the protein. Simple answer, use water for protein intake after workouts
  19. Can someone tell me the difference between these two?
  20. I created a new workout, and tried it out last night. Tell me what you think. first 30 minutes (warm-ups and stretching) anything from pushups (till failure) to stretching. 15 minutes on the elliptical machine 3 sets of 3 minutes jump rope, with 30 second rests in between 2 sets of 10 minute bag work (punching, kicking, jabbing) 30-30-30-rest sessions for 10 minutes 30 seconds of Jump&Jacks (as many as I can) 30 seconds of jump rope (fast as I can) 30 seconds of shawdo boxing the rest for 1 minute. Cool down for 5 minutes (Jump around, stretch out) I did this last night, man was I tired afterwards
  21. Will do. Now the crappy thing is, I have to get all the water out Did you use just sand, or water too?
  22. Good job dude! Congrats!
  23. Anyone have this? I bought one last night from a sports store. I filled the thing to where the bag starts with water. Now, I swear, I'm no boxer, but I was beating that thing around my basement floor. I was putting it into corners. I thought that thing with that much water wouldn't move. What gives? Should I fill it up the rest of the way? Should I use sand instead? I'm kinda iffy on sand, because water I can syphen out, sand.... that thing is going to be a pain to get it back upstairs. Any ideas? It wasn't that expensive, and I still have the receipt, but it was the floor model, so I don't know if they'll take it back. I wanted a real bag, but I don't have drop cellings, and the idea of drilling into my celling and sinking a bolt to hold a 100lb bag.... well... scares the crap outta me
