    Pulling Punches

been summed up -so you dont explode anyones nose.... and so you cna show control.
  2. you shoudlnt rely on any one set of techniques..... or skill set...
  3. this is what i say a lot - generally the success of applying a certain style is about how you train.///
  4. ive never seen nor believe in "touchless KOs"... any counter example are appreciated.
  5. yes - trainign for them is hard, and i believe many peopel who train in them seem to believe they are the be all and end all of fighting... not all, just a lot of the ones i met...
  6. i dont think if chi existed telekenisis would be part of it..... thats rather unlikely. I also dont think you can risk your life by chi training.... unless it involved lava or some such other dangerous activity.
  7. i agreee that he could have won..... but still he shouldnt have.
  8. so long as you learn how to integrate them, and as has been mentioned before - swapping styles mid fight, can be really confusing for the opponent....
  9. no no u missed the or more part..... sorry but if there are multiple talented armed opponents [3 or more would suffice] trying to kill you.... they're probably going to succeed....
  10. arent they just different spellings?! or am i just being sillly
  11. yeah seems it was probably done for show....
  12. 3 forms is quite a lot to learn - so 30 in 10 days would seem difficult un less they are relatively short forms....
  13. but in short - yes you could win, but you could also lose; depends on many things - remember that a self defense situation is very rarely controlled and usually rather chaotic.
  14. i think at one time everyone's guilty of prejudgnig something - whether it be a dojang, or simply someone we meet..... least most of us made the right choice.
  15. yeah - i geussed as much - not that many trained here in the uk either id think..... least there are those that are trained aroudn though.
  16. strange that - being the ones you practiced.... just out of interest do you know this- or is it an opinion, i.e. do you go out and train against other MA styles. I dont think there is a MOST deadly martial arts... given some lend themselver more to the task of killing, but it depends on the situation etc.
  17. yes i think drunken monkey got me on that ..... just talking about dedication - not difficulty of grading... if they didnt get harder what would the point be?
  18. i dont think it will - as its more of a business venture and marketing idea- so why limit hte audience - since its mainly experience MAs who train in it and are unlikely to switch organisation to learn ti....
  19. i HATE handstand press ups..... have you tried tricep dips where you try and clap in front of your chest [tricep dips are face up]
  20. exactly - you need to be rounded..... however different styles have advantages over otehr styles - hence why a lot of successful MA cross train.
  21. depends.... probably not to be honest.... just remember dont dismiss a moev just because it seems impractical - try and work out what you get from doing it other than the technique.
  22. adn the more you see - a lot of people judge other arts based no reputation. always find its better to try for yourself.

    attackers

exactly - its protecting yourself but in a different way.
  24. we only have 24 so thats ok....
  25. i think its good no doubt [ 3 step seems ok for conditionign and distance with beginners]/ i just think a more fluid way of attacking defending , working on principles rathe than scenarios is better for the more experienced.
