A tip for Chi believers, do not be so quick to use it. Practice using it in your techniques, then harness it. When you need it, it will come out more explosive. How do you harness it? Do not be ready to put all of your energy on tedious things in life. Be sure that when you use it, it is worth it.

Do you have a meditation technique you are willing to share?
Karateka replied to SaiFightsMS's topic in Health and Fitness
I prefer different methods of meditation. I try to concur my inner demons by giving them a human like form in my mind. Then I try to fight them with everything I know, creating a struggle. It always seems to keep me calm in the end...for a while. -
The greatest mental attribute one can have is that of complete calmness. I am not talking about being relaxed, but totally calm no matter what happens. I am still working on this. I try to be calm, but somehow something inside me will always want to fight.

Get rid of one tyrant dictatorship for another? Does anyone know what the Northern Alliance is going to do when they get into power? I can tell you what everyone else has done in the past. Either mess up, or impliment their own laws which are pretty bad in themselves. Charles the First of England was a man who belived in the Divine Right of Kings. He was ousted and killed, then entered the Lord Protector Cromwell. He implimented the Blue Laws until he died. History repeats itself.

Pressure points are cool.

I guess no one can change your mind then!

It is visually appealing...to anyone who isn't in Martial Arts. They all sucked crap. Three of the good guys took chinese marital arts stances and the black guy took a bouncing rabbit stance. He just did wrestling moves.

Is not a kata a combination of techniques, like doing drills up and down the hall?
-
That is total crap. That is total bullshit, if people fall into that.... aarrrrggghhhh

As I stated in the Shotokan Forum, kata is not only about fighting others. The enemies in kata are in your mind. Then are they not, in fact, a part of your self. I feel that kata not only refines basics, but calms the mind, body, and spirit to conflict ones inner demons. Kata is a relaxation form. People may say that the moves in kata are just for show, and they are right, in a sense. That is because they don't show the entire thing because a) it looks sloppy and b) they leave room for the imagination. Katas are guides, not crutches. They should not hinder you, but add something to your arsenal.

It is funny how people think of kata as just exercises. The lateral thinking people think of it as a battle with other enemies. I always thought of it as a battle within yourself, not others.

They are in effect for anyone who follows the WKF way of doing things.

Intimidation!

My Kiai as I get off the line helps intimidate. It makes the opponent know that "I'm here, come get some" It works a lot. -
The reason for the new rules is to make the sport spectator friendly. It can only be that way if it is timed for spectators, not referees. If you want to download the new copy, go to http://www.wkf.net and download them. Currently, Karate BC Tournaments and all their clubs are working with them.
