  1. To give that 120% you have to have no hesitation. To hesitate is to come second, and no Karateka will ever want to come second.
  2. You must always keep the end in mind. If you lose focus of the end, you lose focus of the fight.
  3. Those are the people I hate. The people who think they can learn martial arts without getting hurt. All they wanna do is Kata, no self defence, no kumite, and in the end they expect to be like Jet Li. That is what is wrong with some Martial Arts, they let anyone in.
  4. It is good to have every weapon at your advantage for the event of a real life situation. It should never be regarded as a bad thing to learn as much. Some people say they are wastes of time. They are just lazy or can't do it themselves for other commitments.
  5. Congratulations!
  6. Welcome and happy posting _________________ "If your efforts only help yourself, you are only doing half the job" RJ Wallia 2001 [ This Message was edited by: Karateka on 2001-10-05 12:24 ]
  7. This thread is just gonna get ugly...or x-rated.
  8. Men Women
  9. There is no better Martial Art, it is the better Martial Artist.
  10. I promote my Martial Art to my way of life for the very reason that it makes it simpliar.
  11. Welcome and happy posting!
  12. Check out either class, and find out what the classes do for you. That is all I can say. I could go into a big argument with other people and say which art is better but that doesn't help you. Just take both classes, try em out, and see which does better for you.
  13. I have only white. I do this out of respect for the ancient Okinawins who died wearing just these gi's.
  14. What I hate are people who scoff at the Martial Arts because they beat up some guy in a black belt. So what, no Martial Artist has ever said he could never be beaten. He is human, not god. It is quite funny to see that people who don't do martial arts start to argue about how we say we could beat them, but when they go out and beat other martial artists, they believe they can beat all martial artists.
  15. I practiced martial arts because I needed to defend myself, get fit, and get discipline. I now LIVE the martial arts because I believe in the philosophy's and the ways it has been taught. My friends think I am just plain weird, but not a long time ago, this was common place. The honour system and all the philosophy of good and bad. I live the best way I can, a lot of people are back stabbers and are weak. So, you now know why I joined and how I live.
  16. If you are going to teach a child at any age, you have to make sure that they realise the philosophy and that they cannot use this for any sort of malicious violence. Also, schools should have a policy that if you have any problems such as if you become a bully, then you could be excommunicated from the school. You should make the kids feel like that they can come to the Sensei's and Senior students if they have any problems. I started when I was 9 in a school which did none of these things. It was only till I joined my new school where this was instituted.
  17. Now here's a question for the masses. How many people actually implement these into their daily lives?
  18. Welcome and have a great time posting.
  19. I don't know whether this is aimed at a person or not. If it it aimed at a person, I would recommend you use the Private Messaging system. If it is aimed at the general public, could you please clarify your post? Thank you.
  20. When you coach, try to think that you are helping a white belt at first. As you get to know them, then you can change how you teach. The point I am trying to get across is that you should never assume that the athlete knows as much as you do. You should never, however, patronize them in anyway. Plus, always have a first aid kit around. I can't stress this enough, be certified and have a first aid kit. _________________ "If your efforts only help yourself, you are only doing half the job" RJ Wallia 2001 [ This Message was edited by: Karateka on 2001-10-01 11:02 ]
  21. I feel that 8 is the best starting age because that is when they can seriously give their full attention to the Martial Arts. It is then that they can realise what they are actually doing. Also, the left and right thing, I know some adults in my class who always confuse their left and their right!
  22. Welcome and happy posting.
  23. Now you've got the idea
  24. You're welcome. It never gets easier!

    Kumite

When ever we do Kumite, we bow to referee and to each other. Then we wait for HAJIME. Then we go at it!!!!
