  1. I am a brown belt in Shi-to Ryu (Shi-to is hyphenated for cencership issues). We also have deep stances. We too use Shiko Dachi a lot.
  2. Taisabaki...movement. To change off your opponents line of attack is great. Plus takedowns, lots and lots of takedowns.
  3. Welcome and happy posting.
  4. Go to the WKF website and they have the actual percents on their site.
  5. I swear every time I read your name, all I read is twit. Anyway, I used to be in Kickboxing. The only reason I quit is because the teacher lost faith in me. Make sure you have a good teacher. That is all I can say.
  6. Anytime! Always here to help!
  7. That is also true. A school or club has no life. It is its students and teachers who give it the uniqueness that is enstilled in all clubs, whether it is for better or worse.
  8. A person could be ready to teach at a white belt level. A teacher is not only a person who knows the techniqualities, but can be a role model and an example to others. I could tell you not to steal and be the biggest theif on the planet. I could say treat women with respect and it could turn out I was a rapist. It depends on the person.
  9. Welcome and Happy posting!
  10. Shotokan was the first Karate to be introduced to Japan and it's grandmaster was Gichin Funakoshi. Their are three other styles under the WKF umbrella which were also around at the same time, Goju Ryu, Shi-to Ryu (there is no hyphen, I just have to put it for cencorship) and Wado Ryu. Each were equal Martial Arts wise but had some distinct differences. Shi-to Ryu is very fluid and emphisises is on Kata, but Kumite is awesome. Goju is literally hard-soft so there is emphasis placed on tension-relaxation after each move. Shotokan is powerful with very strong basics, Kumite is very traditional and very rarely without coaching does it survive on the mats. That last bit is personal opinion. I myself practice Shi-to Ryu and can't get enough of it.
  11. Ya, you got it right!
  12. Welcome young one. Happy posting.
  13. Welcome to the Forum. Happy posting.
  14. Bo, because you can find it anywhere.
  15. Acutally it is called [word edited out]o-ryu. I didn't make a mistake, it just seemed like it. It is called that from Kenwa Mabuni's teachers two names characters. Ankho Itosu (Shi) and Higoanna (to). That is why it is like that. Shuto Ryu are just different variations.
  16. I am at Cadet Camp. The food sucks, the women suck, the camp sucks, but my Staff Seargent is cool. Some of the female officers are freakin' hot.
  17. Nokia 5190

    Partys

Pool parties rock. You either get the men drunk and they act like assholes or you get the women drunk and...well...you figure it out.
  19. It is not how hard physically you train, it is if you mentally train yourself for anything. If you can imprint it into your body and your mind and quite frankly embed it into your self, then you walk away with something.
  20. Clubs are clubs. It is the instructors who I like. They are like me second parents. I would go with any of them before any of my relatives. They are plain awesome. They have changed my life more than anything else in the entire planet. I would die for them, cause I know they would die for me.
  21. Goju Ryu is literally called hard-soft style. It is very hard with a sense of relaxation. A good focus on basics and power. If you wanna do something with kickboxing, do [word edited out]o-Ryu. It is more fluid, which is what you need.
  22. One year is just for the basics. Then it takes the mind set to work into. They have to teach you to have the psychology to win. The one thing that seperates good fighters from great fighters is hesitation. If you have hesitation, you lose. You lose big time!
  23. Mind games are what win fights all the time. Without it, no one can win. Even if you are evenly matched, it is the one with the attitude and the poise who will win the fight.
  24. Some can say that the belt system works because it works on the reward purpose for hard work. It can be incentive to put in that extra effort to get that next belt. It works mostly for Americans who don't have a clue about the Arts because they need something to keep them motivated.
  25. We call it the Air Cadets. And I will have fun. Everything is pretty similar to the British system. Damn IT!
