  2. Because killing them doesn't end anything. It makes it grow into martyrdom. People aren't realising that you should try to figure out why they do this. Why do they have such hatred? What made them hate the American's so much? Those are the questions people should be asking. Not, what are we going to bomb them with or how would you recommend killing them. That is not justice. It is just the beginning of the end.
  3. It is quite stupid how schools hand out black belts on physical ability rather than knowledge and ettiquette. They don't teach their black belts anything about respect of other styles. It is quite a shame that they should represent themselves that way and their schools that way. If they ever do hassle you, go report them to their Sensei. If they do it at a tournament let them know, they can be disqualified for un sportmanlike conduct
  4. You and me both. I hate having family around when I do Karate. It makes me nervous and that's when I make mistakes or I get injured.
  5. Some people don't consider it a Martial Art because of the fact that it does not have an artistic side. I know Kickbutt's dojo does do Kata, however Thaiboxerken doesn't. Also, my friend who does Kickboxing doesn't do Kata anymore. There is no set body or organization that lets down the ground rules for this. If there was a single organization that people could turn to, whose specific goal is to better kickboxing around the world, then it would have better standing. I personally think it is a Martial Art. However, some people who practice it aren't really Martial Artists. That is the sad thing with public marketing. You always get the wanna be's!
  6. Ticky Donovan. He changed the entire scheme of things for Kumite. He totally analyzed it down to single moves that could win you matches. Where your hand is, how you should bend when you do this. He is cool.
  7. Kyokushinkai has been along almost as long as the other four main styles of Karate. It is a good style to train with. Angus: I guess you should have researched your Karate styles before choosing. I had a feeling that when you chose Goju ryu you would quit. They have lots of kata. Not as much as ****o Ryu. If you want real just basic fighting, take jujitsu. Now that is an art. It is cool. Give it a try. Thaiboxerken: Don't call people ignorant because they believe in tradition. It works for them, just the same as your thinking works for you.
  8. Well said Shortdog, my parents and my sister hate driving me around all the time.
  9. I am the only one in my family who is physically active. I also take my Karate not only on a fitness or sport level, but at a life level. I try to incorporate the ethics taught to me in Karate and apply them to my daily life.
  10. Welcome Kickbuttnat. I am only 15 so you don't have to worry about age.
  11. This is a great tragedy. Not only is there great sense of loss, there is also a great sense of anger. The American people it seems, wants blood. People say we must wage war. Against who, are you going to wage war against the terrorists or against the countries they are in. If your administration decides to go after the terrorists, then they must do it according to law and not to bomb them. If they go after countries they may hit the terrorist, but they will definately bomb innocent civilians. Some may say that it is poetic justice. How did you feel when your innocents were killed or injured. They will feel the same way. It will spark an international war. It will lead eventually to chaos and death. I personally feel that war is wrong. I also feel that what these terrorist cowards did is wrong. The best way to get revenge is to put them in jail for life and take away their rights inside prison. To kill them is making their cause even greater. My hopes, prayers, and condolenses go out to those poor husbands, wives, sons and daughters who died so tragically and foolishly.
  12. Already by your spelling I know that the Martial Art is Karate. Let me tell you my criteria: 1) Is there Kata, plus 2) Is there Kumite, plus 3) Is there tournaments sanctioned by some sort of authority, plus 4) Is the teacher a good one, plus 5) Do they go over application and self defence on the street? plus This is not a crack at you Thai, it is you way of writing it down was good so I decided to use it. Thaiboxerken's ideas are from a kickboxer, mine are from a Karateka's point of view. Although I have never heard of the style of Kotosuha Shi-to Ryu, I know about Shi-to Ryu because it is my style. The point is, don't listen to what other people tell you in the end. It is YOUR decision.
  13. Sparring is key. In Karate, we are taught that through our basics, are punches are strong. It is great and I have tried it and it works. The thing I like about Kumite is that it works on speed, distance, and timing. Plus, it is cool to see how much finesse you put into a move. Also if you see other people and how they fight it is a lot of fun and it is good slamming people to the floor.
  14. I really can't give you much advice since I live in Canada, but I shop at Bibsan Budo Equipment and at Kamikaze Canada.
  15. Leaving a dojo can be a terrible thing in the end. You have to just let them know you are leaving, and that you may come back. Just say you are exploring things for a while.
  16. Kushanku Dai as it is called in Shi-to Ryu, is lots of fun for me. It is a kata that, if not done right, looks crappy. This all refers to that jump. I can never really get it down repeatedly.
  17. It doesn't have to be useful to be fun!
  18. I am glad that this was resolved. I woke up this morning to find that the site was not working. I looked in the email section and I automatically emailed Tobias Reece and Patrick. I hope that nothing like this ever happens again.
  19. Those Katas are fun.
  20. Blue Dragon, do you take Shi-to Ryu by any chance?
  21. Welcome ahmed and happy posting. Judging by your current posts, we can expect great ideas from you.
  22. Is this discussion still going on? Rather than keep why not say that some people believe it, some people don't, let them believe it, let the other's not, and end this right here? Sound good?
  23. "AWWW TAT"S THO THWEET" No, I agree with Rush. That is why a lot of women do not even join. It is sad, but in the end it is their choice. Let's hear it for all the women!
