  1. Angie, don't worry. I thought I was horrible at Kata. I vowed to myself never to do it, ever. Now, I love Kata. Not as much as Kumite, but I still love Kata. You will get your competition ability back. Maybe you just need a break. Just don't take too long. The longer you wait, the harder you have to work to get back in.
  2. Politics, politics, politics! It always let some people win. I know some people who went to tournaments and lost their matches simply because they were fighting a guy from the BC Team, and then the refs would give BC Teamer the point, even though he didn't score as much. That is what blows. The thing I like about my dojo is, my teacher is Head Coach of BC Team, but their is absolutely no politics. It is very hard to find a club which doesn't have that much crap in it.
  3. To give him an honorary belt is fine. If he has done a service to the school, great. If he starts wearing it and gives orders, that is wrong. It is a disgrace to the style, the Martial Arts, and more importantly, the people who worked their lives earning that belt and some asshole with a lot of money just gets one thrown at him. They should make him go for a belt test for a yellow belt and lets see how well he does.
  4. too funny Kids are like that. The only reason I am not in the kids class is because I was starting to accidentely hit them and injure them. That is why I don't hang out with younger kids. Too fragile.
  5. Congratulations to everyone's hard work!
  6. Some teachers have different belts just to grab some difference from others. My style uses this belt system all over the world, so that makes it a lot easier.
  7. I only referee if I am head referee. I have the agressiveness to stop a fight and make decisions and force others to make a call.
  8. Actually, what happened was that this was supposed to be a non-contact tournament. Since it was an open, people who did full contact came in and started doing some crazy ****. What was worse was that no referees were calling it. All of us who played by the rules were pissed off because they were cheating and winning. I lost my match fair and square because we played clean, but my opponent nearly was put unconcious. Anyway, that is how it went. The next tournament for me is my Provincial Championships. Then there is the BC Games qualifications, then the Sato Cup and finally the BC Games. After that, who knows? Thanks to everyone who gave their support
  9. Just got back from the tournament. Unfortunately I came away with just experience. Although most would say it was enough and I agree with them, I would have preferred a medal as well. Oh well, there is always next month.
  10. I don't know whether or not it exists or not. I believe it does exist but I do know that Thaiboxerken doesn't. This is a topic people have talked about and argued about quite a lot. Be prepared for a fight.
  11. On Saturday Sept. 21, 2001 the Karate BC Open Tournament is going on. I am entering into the Kata division and Kumite. It is all new rules so I am going to do Rohai and Bassai-dai for Kata. Kumite, well, I am going just to win. For more information, go to http://www.karatebc.org or if you just wanna check and see what it is about.
  12. BLINK 182 for getting me pumped before a fight. I play it over and over again.
  13. Thank you for that input!
  14. Welcome to our forum. Perhaps you could tell us about which city you are from and your school.
  15. Karateka

    Kumite

Perhaps that should go in the Karate section. I won't move it, but just for future reference.
  16. Welcome and happy posting.
  17. Good work
  18. Let's hope not
  19. The meaning behind what I said about our children is that, what happens if we try to make peace. There is so much conflict. I am not going to talk about it anymore. All I hope is that, when I get older and join my military, I won't be ordered to bomb a city or kill civilians.
  20. In the end, we may end up as victors; but our children will be the losers in the end.
  21. Blue Dragon, just make sure it isn't over the hip. If you do it in tournament and it is over the hip, it is illegal and you are given a penalty. I don't know if it is Category 1 or 2 but it is illegal. Good move other wise.
  22. It is not the style which is better, it is the Martial Artist.
  23. The Gulf War didn't help much either. However, we can not dwell on the past much less change it. We can, however, work towards the future. In the end, I believe we should just leave each other alone.
