I sometimes found the prices were too high, and then I saw other clubs, and they were even more expensive. Usually, my belt tests cost about $20 a test. Then the black belt test comes from Japan so it is about $200 dollars. Plus we have monthly fees, association fees and style fees. It gets a little carried away. I always find the rewards to be greater than what I give, so it is, to me anyway, a good trade off.

I actually wear two different gi's. For kata and basics I wear the Kamikaze Canada Monarch. For Kumite I wear my Adidas Kumite Gi.

It depends on who you are fighting. Sometimes you have to get aggresive. Most times, I find that I calm myself down and make the other person do what I want them to do.

I am going to be away from my computer for at least three days, I won't be able to participate in the challenges. If you could possibly hold it off until then, because as you can see, I really want to stay on the team (whatever is left of it!)

We could do it by the best looking team, so my team would automatically win Seriously though, I think that my team should get it because everyone on our team competed.

People often look at kata and try to copy the moves exactly from the kata. What they don't also realise is that Kata is like a set of notes. You can always expand on them, even if it doesn't follow the kata. This is why some people always find kata too structured, you can always expand on any technique you do.

And what about state sponsored terrorism? Terrorism can go both ways. Perhaps bombing Afghanistan for the search of a minority is terrorism. The big picking on the weak. Later, the Press goes on about the treatment of women in Afghanistan, yet this was going on before, it was put on the News, yet then all people said was "Now that is a shame." All of a sudden, people are fighting for them. I am not here to make any opinion or to degrade any one else's opinion. What happened on Sept. 11th was a tragedy, but let us not forget that other countries lose people in the thousands. India is one such case, and there are many more who lose a great number of people. Sorry, I just wanted to get that point across.

Ask any point fighter out there and ask them to describe point sparring, and they will all say it is a glorified game of tag. It builds more than just how to fight though. It teaches speed, balance, hand-eye coordination, and many other things as well. We learn how to fight and defend ourselves in the dojo. There are full contact tournaments which we can enter, but I feel I learn more from the point sparring then the full contact. And yes, I was in full contact, so I know what it is like.

When I medidate, I basically think of just clearing my mind of all distractions. I have found within my training that I tend to get distracted not with my mind, just my eyes. I try to build on my focus more. Then I try to make that focus tighter and tighter.

Why don't most noses bleed when hit?
Karateka replied to Che Guevara's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I find that I get hit in the nose often, and I don't bleed. But something light, like hitting a wall slightly, that makes it bleed like crazy. Also, when it is really hot when I sleep, there is blood on my nose and all over my pillow. It's weird. -

Olympics In China
Karateka replied to MuayTB1's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
A lot of people somehow regard it as an Olympic Sport. To date, no form of Karate is accepted as an Olympic Sport. Check the WKF site, check Olympics.org and all sorts of other sites. I, to date, have heard no news but if it is an Olympic sport, please tell me where you got the info. I am very anxious to hear the news. -
Neither does mine.

In the new rules, the Shi-to Ryu Seianchin was taken. The Goju style katas are Seipai and Saifai.
