Sometimes in my dreams, I see little bits of scenes of my actual life that make no sense and have no bearing. Then, within a few days, I find myself living out that scene. Then I wonder, "this is too fimiliar!" It is really weird.

Bend your support leg, keep your centre of gravity low, and focus your eyes where you want to go. Basically stare at a point and keep looking at it, even when you turn, your head must go first.

Cool system, they need some spell checks on their site *hapiness*. Anyway, looks pretty cool, but no throw; no go. -
I am a brown belt. Including the pinans, I know about 20.

It was not right for the Sensei to be involved. The challenge was made to the student, not the teacher. Remind him of that.

Just don't screw up like you always do!

Doesn't that make sense

Yeah, especially since your signature just says your anger is a gift. Really cool head. Trust me, if he is any kind of good fighter, he will have a cool head.

To decide whether it sucks or not isn't really your call. I thought when I first saw karate is was for wimps. Then I realised after I went through it that their are different sides. Angus, don't be surprised if he beats you. He may not or he may, but to fight properly, you gotta go with a cool head.

I only know Matsamura Rohai. -
Do not go looking for trouble; but when it comes knockin', you start rockin'

I am not exactly sure. I think that any kind of stable stance is good to channel your chi. One must work to channel it through natural means. He must be relaxed and be in a position in which he can just do it.

When everyone else is talking. I find that when I am eating lunch by myself sometimes in school, the cafeteria is bubbling. Then, I practice shutting it all out, and trying to see more then I could before.

The role of a karateka is to use his skill to defend himself and others. Two things could have happend if you didn't intervene. A) Your buddies could have been hurt B) The other guys could have been hurt. You did the right thing. The fact that you ponder over what you did, shows that you are a good karateka. Congratulations on your Brown belt. Wear it with honor, you earned it.

Side kicks, they always work.

Kickboxing because of its popularity will probably be in there soon enough. Look how long Karate had to wait, and still does have to wait.

Why do we have to define it. In my opinion, it is an energy that gives a certain feeling. I am sure it gives everyone a feeling. It gives other people unique feelings, as unique as the person itself. Why bother to wonder and argue? Why not just to accept it, and be happy that we can actually feel it. Chi is just another way of letting someone know he is alive. Let's all be alive.

To obtain chi is not skill. It comes in many ways in which we cannot control. To learn to discern chi is hard. Chi can come from anything we do. Exert a force, pull those long hours. That is all Chi. To discern and call it at will is hard. You just gotta keep practicin'

Thoughts on Mastery and Perfection
Karateka replied to jdoub's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
The only thing that is mastered is the human ego's ability to think we know everything there is to know.
