  2. *looks at his glass in his left hand* ..what about porto?
  3. A style is a way to learn how to fight (among other things), the style is not the fight itself. People claiming to be learning JKD are just learning a different style and lying to themselves they are not. JKD is a philosphy which can be incorporated in any martial and non martial applications.
  4. If you study JKD as your first and only MA ...then it is a style...
  5. Water is bad for you? Wtf?
  6. does it look like this : http://www.wle.com//products/w062.html ? its called a Pu Dao or Chai Dao...dunno if this is what you are talking about but it's a big 2 handed sword.
  7. Taken from http://www.geocities.com/ycgf/bagua.htm
  8. sadly need an AOL account to see the video. But MArtist or not...if you see someone getting attacked, it is moral duty as a citizen and human beings to do what you can do to help. If you think you have no chance to overpower the aggressor...screaming your lungs out for help might be enough to scare him away, anything you can do really.
  9. With your teeth dude, and nails!
  10. There are strict rules you have to follow in major surfind areas (like Hawaii). That guy like crashed in on an event or something, thats what happens.
  11. probably mentioned before, but wear shoes.
  12. Since those wrestling matches sometimes finished by death, I hope not. I mean it was just how they called "wrestling" in these days. 2 guys sluggin it out...naked.
  13. pan·cra·ti·um ( P ) Pronunciation Key (pn-krsh-m) n. An athletic contest in ancient Greece that involved boxing and wrestling. from https://www.dictionary.com
  14. its the old Secret (name) deodorant slogan...
  15. ooo, so that is where the slogan "Strong enough for a man, but made for a woman" comes from...
  16. maybe he means that if you go limp, then make a sudden strong movements to withdraw, it will be easier to get out of the grab? dunno.
  17. Where do you train it anyway? I can't find any Baji kwan around quebec city.
  18. Hmpf, I thought gates were just openings, or zones to strike an opponent in/had to guard from opponents. And "bridging" those gates were simply succesfully striking them...
  19. Perform katas and drills with the weights in ur hands? (don't try to punch full speed with weights though, just slowly perform the movements)...or get heavier weights. You can work your shoulders well with 10lbs weights. Take the weights in your hands, and let your arms down normally. Then Slowly raise them so that they extend to each side of your body, horizontaly (a cross or 'T' shape) then slowly bring them back down (8-15 reps). You can also bring your arms forward when fully extended. Dunno if it will bring power to your punch, but its something simple you can do to strenghten those shoulders. 10 lbs usually does it at first, but you will quickly need heavier weights. Plus you can combine this exercise with forarm curls.
  20. With a bench bar, you can make your whole upper body work with curls, not just your biceps.
  21. I read that Baji Quan was practiced by armored warriors. Do you think this restriced the movements of the style to some degree? As far as I've read, Baji is pretty straight forward in it's attacks, not very evasive. What do you think?
  22. The older, female character in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is actually an ex ballet dancer, before she became an actor . Modern Wushu is just that, martial ballet. It's an art in the esthetic sense of the definition, but not when you consider art meaning "skill" (Martial Art = War skill)
  23. People think im weird when I ask for water while eating sweet foods (like chocolate cakes) ... I just love water...
  24. Hmm..I'm not fitness instructor or body builder..but I would say that strong stabilizing muscles would help balance (after good mind/body coordination). Some bodyweight exercises will help that, like chin ups. Also free weights (I think they are called dumbells) will work these muscles. Like stand and work your biceps with a benching bar, while contracting ur abdominal muscles and pecs. If your body is shaking while doing the curls, it's your stabilizing muscles that needs work.
