  1. But if someone gets a hold of the weapon, you can say bye bye to your finger :s
  2. All that is important is that he took MY idea of aiki-jujutsu (you better find out the correct spelling)! I wanna be in the credits!
  3. I still don't see the point of those weapons...they are long like a knife...but twirl? .... WHY WHY WHY?
  4. ...so basically...its paint ball with strikes?
  5. [...] As for the tornado kick - the wushu variation is to land on the same foot that kicks - we called it a tornado kick also. I'm not sure if there's another name for it. Forgot to mention, your body needs to be as paralell to the ground while in the air. I think Jackie Chan does it in the movie "Rumble in the bronx" when he is fighting the head thug (the thug is lying on the pool table and jackie tries to kick him)
  6. ...well of course!
  7. Stress relief, good workout, regulates brain chemistry (not kidding)...
  8. Maybe these links to other forum posts will help : http://www.karateforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=12400 http://www.karateforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=16343 http://www.karateforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=16324 http://www.karateforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=16319 http://www.karateforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=16246
  9. sounds like what we referred to as a scissors stance. I've also heard it called a twisted horse stance, or something like that. Isn't it named "sibu" or "xibu" ? ------------------------------------------------ Anyone knows the real name of the kick "Dragon in the mud"? It's kinda like tornado kick but you land on the same foot that kicks.
  10. Knee...with all the strenght I could get in that kick to cripple the guy. This is so considering that it is just easier to strike, of course the eyes or groin would probably end a fight quicker, if you manage to hit there.
  11. Arf, my earlier post was short because it was very late and was going too bed and I was sure someone could explain better than me why a tornado kick is not something to do in a fight. The reasons are (in my opinion for whatever it is worth) : 1. Too slow, by the time you take the few steps to give yourselve momentum then complete the spin in the air your opponent probably won't be where he was once you started the motion (like I've seen a couple times happening in spars). Which also leads to point 2... 2. The slowness of the execution and the telegraphed movement makes it too easy to avoid or block. And yeah practicing tornado kicks in the air you can land on your feet, but if you get blocked, or actually have the luck of landing the kick, big chances are you land on your * since your rotating motion is stopped short. 3. In theory, circular movement do generate great power...when combined with rooting! When in the air, you are only using the kinetic force of your spin while using very little body strenght (at best you can add a little snapping motion). When on the ground, you can add the circular movement WITH the power of your muscles. Not sure if this is clear, I'll explain later if it is needed. This is all I can think of right now...
  12. Tekken series Mortal Kombat shaped my youth...I am what I am now thanks to Scorpion rofl.

  17. Broken sternum from a taichi technique...hmm maybe I'll check it out since my sifu teaches it as well...
  18. Broke his sternum?! Thought a broken sternum was fatal.
  19. Ok, to play the first movie, you need Real player. On the first movie, it shows you that while kicking, you should extend your arm almost parallel to your leg to stop the opponent from rushing into you. He also says that a MT kick has to go through the oponnent, so your whole body (thighs and shoulders) should spin with the leg, so your arm and shoulders are already in position to defend yourself.
  20. The only way I could imagine someone breaking a knuckle on someone else's jaw is if he had unproper wrist/fist alignement. And we train to harden our knuckles and have proper technique right? I'd only pick open hand "slaps" (those slaps can be very hard ) is when you are confident that you can overpower the opponent without inflicting too much damage.
  21. A friend of mine told me a nice story : My friend does MA with me, and one night he was at a McDonalds with 3 other MA fellows. 2 or 3 drunk guys come in and start talking * to one of my friends. The one targeted is particuliarly tough, he is also an assistant instructor at the kwan and does kenpo as well as ninjitsu and kung fu. So they are peacefully eating their fries or whatever, when these drunkards start talking *, but my friends totally ignored them. There is little doubt in my mind that they could of taken those drunks but I guess there was no point in doing so, since they werent threatened in any way.
  22. Now now Musse, when a woman says no, it just mean she is not drunk enough yet. Remember that.
  23. little question, since when American Kenpo is considered a Traditonal MA ?! First and second rule of fight club is : "YOU DONT TALK ABOUT FIGHT CLUB" damnit ppl! follow the rules
