Knocking someone out in one blow is extremely hard, believe me i've tried it... It's better to wind them and run. I like that saying though! Angus

I do not dispute other people's beliefs but i MUST agree with thaiboxerken there... KI is supposed to be some magical mystery thing which can unleash huge amounts of power... great... so can a fart ... Chi is more of a religious thing than anything else... There are very few chi masters and for any of them to be beaten is kinda weird don't u think? If it's so magical then why don't they fireball the thaiboxers?? No offense to anyone, i kinda believe in Chi... I see it as controlled rage... See my post in the General section. Angus.

I am curious to know how the majority of you work out. What you do, when you do it, how often, for how long? On top of my classes i workout at least 2 hours a day, four days a week... I centre my workout around weights, skipping, and shadow boxing. I occasionally run and do heavy bagwork.... No workout is complete without crunches... I try to do 1000 reps at least on my stomach, even if i'm tired, i have to do this... I tend to clam more than i crunch but clamming's harder. Shadow boxing is also very good for my heartrate, hooey it gets goin! Any replies are appreciated! Angus.

Exactly... you have never felt power until you have felt your anger under your control... It's like having a demon inside of you that you can control... A most excellent feeling if you're in a conflict, Angus.

I respect ALL martial arts, everything has its place, but i must say that sport Tae Kwon Do as seen in the 2000 Australian Olympic games is the worst thing that could have ever happened to TKD... I have found many people dissing it because they did not use tehir hands and it was based on points... Why can't they just introduce ring kickboxing into the olympics?? Then good TKD stylists like the former champion Jerry Trimble could become Olympic medalists. It is disappointing to see that this sport tkd has damaged real tkd's reputation. Angus.

Heh, pat, you're a poet and you didn't even know it!! Angus.

Controlled rage, people... controlled rage. Perhaps you have heard of this before. I have seen many a good fighter get angry and lose his timing and just swing and swing, usually ending up on the ground. I myself used to be guilty of this. That is called blind rage, what i am talking about is controlled rage. The ability to house your anger, make it your friend, make it boost your strength, quicken your blows, and numb your pain... Many people give in to the rush of adreniline and lose it. If you can learn to control yourself, focus your energy, and turn into a beast, then nothing can stop you. Just some random thoughts, Angus.

No no people, if you're looking for a forum on Sun Tsu you're gonna have to go somewhere else.... Each of us learns the Martial Arts for very different reasons. Some want exercise, some want to commit themselves to something with discipline, some just want something to do... But i, humble and honourable 'Gus, am interested in the Art of Warfare. I always have been. Now, i don't go putting on camo and shoot birds outta trees and bite their heads off and stuff, but i am simply interested in learning that which has shaped our world for centuries... Think about it, nothing has shaped the course of the human race quite like warfare. There have been more conflicts that have changed the world than good people. As the wise Arnold Schwarzenegger said in the movie Terminator 2, it is in our nature to destroy ourselves (i know he didn't write it but don't burst my bubble). It seriously has been a lifelong study for me, ever since i was handed my first toy gun at the age of four. Before i was offered a place in university i was sheduled to go into the Australian Army and eventually try out for the elite SAS. But the most intricate part of human warfare, i must say, is the martial arts... It amazes me that someone with an uncanny knowledge of the human body was able to create and perfect a series of moves which can give someone the edge in unarmed and armed combat. It must have started somewhere.. Some people think it was the Indian Buddhist monk Bodhi Dharma, some think it was Alexander the Great's armies that devastated asia (carrying the art of Pankraytion). What are your thoughts on the Art of War? Not just the martial arts, but all aspects. How do you think the human race could have eveolved without the technology brought about by warfare? How do you think great nations would have sprung up? by all means if you do not agree with my views please try to refute them. I think there could be some interesting discussion over this! Cheers peoples, Angus

I suppose that'd be cool though with the protective stuff... at least i wouldn't get as beat up. Thanx man, Angus. -
Yeah, my Goju Ryu is VERY traditional. We learn essentially the basics. My instructor is a 7th degree master and head of Goju Ryu Australia (i'm pretty sure), and he's an awesome guy. Angus.

Usually the way i work is that people have my highest respect and then gradually lose it if they do stupid things... Just like we all start off with A grades at school but when we do the work if wee don't put in the right amount then we go down to a B, or a C or an F! Angus.

Yeah, it's all a bit of a farce... i believe in GOD as in the spirit of something that is out there but i don't believe in some dude dressed in white fighting this other dude whose got horns and stuff... i do however respect what other people think. There's something out there for all of us, we just have to uncover what it is. Angus. -
OH NO!!! OOPS!! I WASN'T THINKING WHEN I POSTED THAT!!! what i meant to say was that it's always good to PROTECT people! Oh my god, please except my sincerest apologies, i did NOT mean that! i was thinking about something else at the time. Angus Argyle.

It depends what mood i'm in man... I work out to songs like Eye of the Tiger by Foreigner, and Limp Bizkit and Metallica and Rage Against the Machine - "**** you i won't do what you tell me!!" But i like sitting back and listening to Creed and Pearl Jam, and a little R&B like Craig David, and i'l listen to Jewel, i'l even listen to Bach!... I love everything that's catchy. but when i'm working out it HAS to be heavy! Angus.

you're very welcome kickbutt, haha, oh dear, that name's gonna take some getting used to... I might check out ken's suggestion too! Angus.

Ahhh you're a good little boy!! Hehe, Angus.

Your oppinion on boxing
Angus replied to Lars's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
Once again i agree with Ken... even the revered art of grappling has its weak points... Crosstraining is DEFINATELY the way to go and i would and have included boxing in my training. Angus. -
