Cool, thanx guys... I think i'l have to WORK for my black belt.. hehe. Angus. -
It's interesting about the belts.. We really should describe ouuselves in our ranks as Kyu's or Kup's though... cos there is sucha a diverse range of belts. Angus.

It's always good to hurt people... To the best of my ability i did pretty much what immortal was talking about... I kinda grabbed the knife hand of the dude with the blade and swung him in a direction away from my girlfriend and landed a low groin kick to his other friend. Then i started to get caned (thus all my injuries)... I didn't know what to do so i went feral and jumped on them and stuff... It was weird. I can't remember a lot f it partly cos of the adreniline... Take care peoples. Angus. [ This Message was edited by: Angus on 2001-06-23 18:52 ]

Kicks in a self-defense situation.

Yeah, thanx for the posts guys... Back in the day (when i was fast) i once used a spinning hook kick in a fight and landed it nicely on his cheek... he went down like a sack of spuds, but i wouldn't use that now. Angus. -
Yeah, but by beating thoroughly i kinda meant just so much that he is still able to comprehend what is going on... I don't want any criminal charges brought up on me.. Angus.

Gees, u guys have a lot of experience... I've devoted 2 thirds of my life so far to the MA's but that's only 12 years... Ahh well, i'l get there... Angus.

Spinning Kicks
Angus replied to Angus's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
Oh yeah man, absoutely.... i love spinnin around in the air and swingin my legs around.. Thanx ken. Angus. -
This is just me but would never EVER give my wallet or money to ANYONE!! If you do that then u are just feeding the addiction, but if u beat someone nice a thoroughly then it is much less likely that they are gonna try and steal from someone again... This is an immature approach but i work hard for the money i get and i'm not gonna let some fool take it from me... I fear nobody except the almighty and i'm not afraid of dying for what i believe in... The person just has to think about if they are willing to die for the few bucks they would get outta my wallet... and i tell them that!! Good on her for fighting back, Ouss! Angus.

Although i like the nunchaku i would not futher my knowledge in them... they are impracticle for use on the street... i tend to prefer learning street defense with the jo or bo (varying stick sizes) as that would be more helpful.... Angus.

Although i do know how to execute a good number of effective kicks i find that in a REAL fight i scrap a lot and use my hands and grappling a lot more than my kicks... I have used the Muay Thai roundhouse kick a lot as well, but only because it is quick and effective... I think i would only use big technical kicks if i were to come across another VERY experienced martial artist, because i would then have to use everything in my arsenal... Mastering the basics is fine but if someone has mastered the defense against the basics then u r in trouble... What are your thoughts?? Angus.

In the Goju Ryu Karate school i go to at the moment they are not required to learn the spinning and flying kicks that are taught in other arts such as hapkido and wushu. I think this is perhaps a little unfair as, when i first sparred against the balck belts, they had no idea what was going on when i was pulling all these fast and accurate kicks on them. One guy thought i'd even made up the jump-spinning crescent!!!!! Gees.... I'm a BIG fan of the step-jumping back kick and the spinning heel but i rarely use them... What are ur thoughts on these big kicks?? I think that to learn to defend against them it is essential that one learn to do them. Opinions please, Angus.

I have been in many a violent conflict in my short time on this plain of existence, some of which almost ended it. Take for example my defense of a then girlfriend. A knife was pulled on me and i very nearly had my throat cut. It was against 3 attackers and i came out with a fractured nose, 2 cracked ribs, a broken back tooth and cuts to my arm. Two of the three attackers were immobile on the ground (one unconscious) and the third one ran... I was almost put up on criminal charges, me the defender.... i was wondering if anyone had similar stories, and what they think they would do in a fight if they really had to... I'm talking about an honourable circumstance where u are fighting for ur safety or the safety of someone else.. Respects, Angus.

Angus replied to Lars's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
Dude, since u are of a high rank and one of the main guys here, and i know u are young, then i'l cut u a break on that comment on boxing... DUDE!!! gees... boxing came from Greece and Rome back in ages past man... Boxing is one of the most formidable fightin arts in the world... Those guys get taught how to dodge blows better than anyone else!! U can't just diss it like that man... Sorry if i peaved u off but that is my humble and informed opinion... take it easy my friend. Angus Argyle.
