  1. in the summer i will have more time to work out. and once each other day my workout schedule might be as follows: running, for like 25-30 something minutes. push ups- 3 sets of 12, gradually increase as i get stronger dumbells-3 sets of 6 for now, 25 pounds curls. - 20 pounds should exercises and bicep exercises with them as well. -crunches - 6 sets of 30. i wait 30 seconds in between each set. now, i might split the running and push ups on the other day, or keep everything together. ive been doing these exercises for a while at some point, but because of the little i eat i guess i didnt get as strong as i should have . but now i got this protein shake thing, and that should help me, but how much protein a day before or after these exercises is good? thanks gotta get cut by summer
  2. what if i run, then take the shake a half hour later, but do some dumbell exercises and push ups later?
  3. try to keep your chin touching your upper chest, i eahrd that helps.
  4. a half hour before..... hm..... intresting, never knew that. i thought it was suppose to be before since it gives you energy.
  5. I got this huge protein shake thing called Met-Rx:long range whey. I was wondering if its good, and how much should i take. i run, do crunches, push ups, and dumbell work exercises. i was thinking taking them before i exercise, so they could help me get leaner and more cut. for now, it looks like every other day or something, becasue i work, or sometimes not even. any suggestions, what do you guys think? good buy? thanks
  6. the classes as far as i know are 2 hours, and you get to use thier gym. ill find out more about it. it would be a really good price if i could go everyday, but i cant, which sucks.
  7. also, is BJJ something you learn how to break arms and stuff, or is it mostly submissions? thanks
  8. i posed this question on the getting started, but it might have been the wrong section, not sure. http://www.karateforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=19634 also, i do capoiera, which i learn mostly kicks and stuff, so i thought it might be nice mixing the two.
  9. i take capoiera classes tuesday, thursdays, and saturdays. i recently got a job, and am working saturdays and sundays (for sure) and supposedly mondays. thing is my work schedule is more she puts a calender of days that i have to come and work. i most likely will continue saturdays and sundays, and then throughout the week, at most 2 days that i will work. capoiera, i will talk to my boss, and i need to have at least tuesday and thursday off, which she will probably be really cool with. now, for any otehr day that i dont have capoiera or work which might be either one or 2 days a week, i want to go to this BJJ school. this school gives calsses that are 2 hours. my problem is, I dont know if i will attend it too much, becasue of work and capoiera, and the classes are $20, or $135 a month. is BJJ something that coming once or twice a week a good thing? something that will help me? thanks
  10. capoiera, depending on the class and teacher, will get you into really good shape (well, this is probably for all the classes, of which i know of at least) more importantly, you can your teacher of good stretches and techniques that will help you do these tricks and flips if you desire. its likea personal trainer as well. but best of luck with it, you'll have lots of fun.
  11. this might help http://www.fastmusclegain.com/ best of luck.
  12. also, i heard its not good to lift wieghts between 16, it can stun your growth. so do push ups and a lot of running, stuff like that. but your still young, so dont rush things.
  13. im not really sure on these subjects, but ill try and help. as far as losing wieght and bulking up goes, im not sure its good to do them both at the same time. but if your trying to bulk up, protein is very good. that goes for the shakes as well. also, other people will probably ask you to out information about yourself (hieght, weight, age) so then they can help you with your weight training routine. unfortunately, id love to help you more, but im not sure. sorry, but best of luck.
  14. never starve yourself, bad bad bad thing. if you want to become heavier, then eat more simply, but more healthier things. i might start on those protien shakes, those look promising.
  15. im not really sure how to upload a video to this Ben Martin, and i have more videos of stunts and the roda, but there is one video that was staged but the fighting they did seemed a lot like they would do in a real fight. how would i upload a video onto this? oh, and i have a question for JusticeZero. Do you only do Capoiera Angola? or do you also do San Bento Grande and other ones?
  16. think of bad thoughts, it sucks, but that seems to work, think of unhappy thoughts. id say continue laughing, its good for you. i couldnt stop laughing in one of my classes once, eventually got pain in my chest, lol. not a good day, major laugh attack.
  17. :SPOILERS: i think this is the thing that has to do with the next xbox http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/04/07/news_6121871.html eh, oh well, hope that helps.
  18. thing is, the stretches adn training in capoiera also prepares the capoieristas to have a lot of energy and be in very good shape. its nothing like muay thai as far as i know, that stuff is insane, but it can be a really tiring class. i wouldnt fight my teacher. not only is he extremely fast, but also very strong.
  19. wow, haha, i should try something like that. but yeah, we are suppose to dodge kicks in capoiera, but once in a while, they kick fast and it will get you. but thanks for the advice, i will do something where a fried will elt me or something.
  20. thanks for the replies, oh and i defnitely blink when the i actually get kicked but block it with my arms. i also blinka little even when the kick comes really close to me and hits me a little. but it doesnt really have to do with capoiera, i just need to know how to stop blinking when somehting is about to strike me like a punch.
  21. is it better to just do as many push ups on a given day, or is it better to do sets? im not sure which one helps you overall better.
  22. what are good ways to not blink when someone will hit you. like when i play capoiera, and a kick is coming at me, i just block or sciva and blink. its not really becasue im scared, i just cant help it. anyone know any good ways to practice not flinching or blinking so when i play capoiera or if God forbid someday i fight someone, i wont blink? maybe practing keeping my eyes open could help, because i blink a lot outside playing. anyways, thanks
  23. wow, this is really cool, thanks a lot
  24. i mena, my capoiera teacher is a good choice too, lol, but i meant someone really other than your teacher, even though your choices are cool, it is about whos best for you.
  25. out of all these famous martial artists (alive or dead) who would you like to be trained by, one on one. Bruce Lee, Mestre Bimba, Gracies, anyone? It can be anyone. Me personally, its a toss up between Mestre Bimba or Royce Gracie.
