  1. makulele is a African warrior dance that you will use two sticks (originally masschettes, but in a class, afraid not). you just learn different moves, doing them in the rythim of that big drum (attabake or something). its quite fun actually, and when you make a roda, you just dacne with each other using the moves you learned. hell of an exercise to. the singing, lol, im not good at, but keep practicing. best of luck.
  2. i never really thought about the ribs being exposed. it might be due to the fact that my capoiera mestre always says to keep moving and never really give your opponent a chance to hit you. moving fast and around in the roda is very important when you play. i was once was moving besides the ginga against my master and he gave me a light kick to the rib. it was a light kick but dam that hurt. anyways, best of luck with your training, and keep moving.
  3. i could do maby up to 25 as well, i have no arm strength. but mayeb if i do them fast, i can do more. for those that do all those push ups, you do them fast?
  4. doing some back stretches might help ease the pain to, but defnitely do your best to finda doctor somewhere.
  5. is there some way to improve the punching speed? i though something like attaching weights (like ankle wieghts) to your arms and keep punching so you get faster. will that work?
  6. eu nasi la na minas gerais, mais eu venho aqui nel Statos Unidos nora que eu tinha 3 anos, entoa eu no posso scrivere ben.
  7. maybe old killswitch engage or system of a down.

  9. wow, thanks a lot for the respones guys. unfortunately, i can only do like 3 pull ups, so i have a lot of work to do, but hey it will all be worth it. can i do these everyday?
  10. also, there are those stretching books and yoga books you can buy that show a lot of different stretches. they arent that expensive either. best of luck.
  11. im planning to buy one of those bars to put between my walls and to add pull ups to my workout. what do pull ups workout exactly and should i do sets of them? like 3 sets of at first 2 or 3 (i cant really do too much at all) also, which way is better? your palms facing you or facing the other way and how far apart should i keep my hands apart? thanks
  12. it might be hgelful if you get two of your freinds to kind of hold you as you do it. it might help to get over the fear a little. the trampoline is also a good idea. defnitely becareful about it and best of luck.

The information keeps popping up panda active scan so i cant use that,. does anyone know of a site that scans your whole comp for free and removes viruses and stuff. i use panda but i cant seem to get rid of that dam information bar. i would really appreciate any help. thanks.

  15. how long on average would you think someone who fights JJ (any kind) can apply it to a real fight situation good. would they have to go for 2 or more years? or less? i heard some of it is suppose to eb easy to learn.
  16. good luck in class. leg workouts i do enough at capoiera, and when im on the gazelle, theres 4 different levels you can adjust it so its harder to move. my leg gets a good workout from that. i also might start using ankle weights soon so that might also help with the leg workouts. back i do an exercise one in a while, but i stretch the back everyday.
  17. ive been doing capoiera for 8 months and love it. now what do you mean my workout is incomplete exactly? i guess im trying to achieve strenthg, but also a lean type. not like really bulk or anything. for capoiera it can be better to be lean, so im thinking lean would be better. thanks for the reply btw, any suggestions?
  18. what im doing is with 20 pound thumbells 3 sets of 11. then with 15 pounds thumbells i do 3 sets of 12 of this exercise where you hold you arm over your head and lift your fore arm (i heard it helps the bottom part of the arm. with the 15 pound after that i i should hold it at my shoulder positiion and and just lift (suppose to help shoulder) i also do 6 sets of 8 push ups and might instead do 3 sets of 10 and and add 3 sets of 10 dips (btw, is there a way you can hurt your back with dips and my chest kind of hurts some times after i do it) thats it for arm exercises. for abs, i just do 6 sets of 35-40 crunches (i put my legs on a balance ball) and after that just 12 of some leg exercise thats suppose to help abs(not sure of name) after all this the final step is going on a machien called the gazelle (it might also be known as a glider but im not sure) i go on it for 30 minutes for cardio. i have capoiera tueesday, thursday, and saturday, so i dont do these exercises on those days unless my its in the summer and my body can take it. also, if i feel pain somewhere, or my arms are tired for the day, i wont do anything except abs and the gazelle. i mighr leave off a day to rest out of the 7 days. i also been trying to eat more fruit and try to get a better diet. im not sure on what to eat, so im going to head for a lot of fruit. im 16 btw and turning 17 in febuary by the way. i also dont do these right after another. i let my arms rest in between like 10-20 minutes. is this something good im doing, or this bad for me? im not that big frame wise. im also 5"10. if my back hurts or arms, i dont exercise that day. how long do you think till i see some good results. my arms feel like they got bigger. thanks for any suggestions and sorry to bother!
  19. how about fruits? those should be good? now, isshinryuwarrior. my mom knew someone who went on a crazy diet, where all she would eat is a lot of watermelons and a lot of pineapples. watermelon because of all the water and pineapple becasue its so acidic (incase you didnt know) it worked as far as my mom knows. if you are in a hurry to lose weight, i dont know if you want to try this. maybe other people can inform you more on it.
  20. i guess we do that then. we ususally warm first with some exercises and stretches, then we will pair up with someone else and pratice or do alone some drills. when we practice with someone else, we will see moves taht can be pulled, and when, as well as how to escape them. so i guess we do those. in the roda, if you know the move, and can pull it off, then even better.
  21. if your used to it, is it good to exercise everyday? i heard something like cardio and push ups dont force that much so you can do them everyday. also, how about abdominals, can you work those out everyday?
  22. au batido, i cant really do a lot of these moves, but a technique that a person told me on doing that move is just doing a handstand to the side, and practicing balance of the wall. techniques that coem frand handstand. im not really sure since a lot of the handstands like spinning handstands are more for showing off. the cart-wheel is more of a move to get around the roda or to run away. im not sure what a round-off is. and dont worry, your not bothering me with these questions. good luck. oh yeah, and to ovine king, im not really sure to tell you the truth. at the end of the class, we just have a roda and usually start slow, and keep getting faster. we also learn some moves from the different games. but im not too sure.
  23. btw, in the Regional, there is some scoring system, im just not sure how it works.
  24. im not sure what XMA is. but when we play in each other, we form the roda. At the part of the roda is instuments, the berimbau being the one that to me seems like the more important one. the two peopel start the game there and do moves like au or role to enter the game and then they play. now you dont really hit the person, and the way you play whether it be fast or slow, and what type of game (angola, san bento grande , not sure of spelling) determines what mood you will take on the other person. the berimbuao kind of determines the mood of the game. when you play other people, in my school, we dont try to hit each other, maybe trip or something, and if the other person is careless, they might get hit (happened to me). if the person your playing is going real rough like trying to hit you and trip you and that kind of stuff, then really you have to try and hit them back, unless the master says to smooth the game down. they will hit you lightly in my school but thats to show what your doing wrong. this all may sound confusing, but if you start to take capoeira, it will all make sense. if you can take, the class, i say go for it, you will never really feel the true joy and fun of capoeira until you play in the roda. feel free to ask more questions, and i will help as best as i can.
  25. its hard to explain the difference in the Esquivas. um.. well when both your beet are parallel, and you turn your upper body to the side(side depending on where kick is coming from) and you put your arm near your head for protection. the other ones i cant really explain. http://www.wu-wien.ac.at/usr/h96b/h9650297/cap-basics.html this might be helpful. the hardest thing. hmm.. at first its when you play against other people in the roda, and you start to get used to the movements, dodging the kicks. of course, whoever your playing will go slow if your a begginer. but to me the hardest yet that i expierenced, is trying to get in the shape that you need if you want to do those cool capoeira moves evryone loves. it takes a lot of flexibility and strength. im just out of shape and a slow learner. plus some other things. ill leave my msn messenger on if you want to im me tonight.
