My last fight was over right after it started. He punched and I ducked and ran behind him. I twisted his neck very quickly and he took a quick nap. If he's reading this. DONT EVER CALL MY GIRLFRIEND THAT AGAIN!!!

Regulation of Martial Arts
Joecooke007 replied to Iron Arahat's topic in Instructors and School Owners
There should definitely be a required license that one should earn before teaching. -
Chi is achieved by releasing yourself from this world. Breath deeply and focus your energy. Clear your mind. _________________ Joe Cooke Goju Ryu Practitioner [ This Message was edited by: Joecooke007 on 2002-01-04 12:43 ]

I think that it's pretty cool having to register your self a a deadly weapon. I think really though, that you shouldn't have to. If someone so much as touches you after you tell them to stop harrasong you, it's perfectly legal to just open a can on their butt.

Japan. Definitely. What other country came up with the idea of getting really fat guys to run into each other.

When you actually hit someone
Joecooke007 replied to Angus's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
The best techique that I have been taught for use in a street fight is a piercing ridgehand to the side of the jaw. It will put your opponent right to sleep. -
how do you like your sensei?
Joecooke007 replied to angiewinter's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
My sensei rules. Jim Cormier is a Shihan in Goju Ryu and is in the hall of fame with the best instructor of the year award. He has helped me get promoted and i am grateful. -
I was just wondering if anybody takes Goju Ryu karate? It would be cool if I could talk with someone on private and we could help each other out. Sort of a mutual thing I guess.

Thoughts on Mastery and Perfection
Joecooke007 replied to jdoub's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I bleieve that nothing is ever mastered becuase someone is always looking for more. If you did drink that perfect cup of green tea you would never be able to drink another one because it raised your standards and suddenly you find your self looking for a better, more perfect cup of tea. In martial arts when you have earned the rank of master you will still go in search of new techniques. A good friend once told me "You are never done", he was right. There will be always something more to learn. -
Iron Palm. If you wnat to toughen your fists this is the way to go. After you are done with training you can break bricks. I'd also like to say that there is no better way to condition your stomach then crunches. I do hundreds of them a day.

Angus, I agree. When you kiya it gets your adrenaline going and your mind ready for attack.

I usually say something that sounds like HEEYAH!!! The letter h allows you to expell more air form your lungs and more power is put into your strike.

Wushu! COOOOOLLLL! -
My test for yellow was not that hard. The kids came in and practiced and warmed up. Then, when class was called to order we went through our falls and sat down in rows. One by one we were called up and tested for different strikes katas forms and buken and kumite combos. I was nervous but in the end i was double promoted to orange belt. So hard work really doe4s pay off eh.

I take Goju Ryu and train at the dojo 3 times a week. I do crunches and pushups at home all the time.

Size definitely does not count. A small opponent may be quick and more apt to dodge a punch. They may be able to punch before the opponent can block. If the going gets frough the small get going ALOT faster then a large person. The terms do not always apply.

Angus, I just want to start out by saying that I think that it is great that you study Goju Ryu. I do too. The soft and high tension excersises are to show that the arts can be used in a very fluid serene way or you can use it for power, (depending on the situation). It is important that do these drills to hone in on the essence of the hard soft system. - Joe Cooke

Your instructor does not sound like a very cool guy. Try connecting with him and understanding where he is coming from. If he still doesn't make sense train with a different insructor. If worse comes to absoulute worst you may have to quit the dojo. An instructor that acts like that should not be allowed to teach.

Jump this will build calf strength. you can also walk around your house on using martial arts movements to develop superior movement skills.

Achieve chi by claming your senses. Relax your mind and feel the energy flowing threw you. Clear your thoughts. This is how you reach your chi.

Instructor After 12 hours?
Joecooke007 replied to Iron Arahat's topic in Instructors and School Owners
I do not believe that someone should be an instructor after twelve hours of lessons. Things like that take time and experience. -
I for one believe that kata is extremely important in the street. It shows you combinations that you may not have come up with on your own.
