  1. I feel son intimidated. TKD kicks are amazing! My favorite is probably the round house back. I practice karate and was just wondering about TKD.
  2. akidoka is right. My teacher stresses the fact that once we achieve that rank of black belt we may start our true training. Also when you say that a martial art can be forgotten. I don't belive that this is true. Martial arts not only highten your ability to defend yourself. They get you fit, teach confidence, and build self-esteem.
  3. This is my pain slogan: Pain is good! When I get that pain I keep going by mentally abusing myself and getting mad at myself. It works and you become tougher because of it.
  4. It all depends. If I knew that someone was trying to kill me I would be scared. I would never be able to kill myself but if it was a natural death or a sword to the neck I would not be afraid cause there's no way out.
  5. Just reading this thread puts me in a relaxed mood. I just came up with another question. Do you have anything that you use while you meditate? I.E. meditation balls? I light incense to calm myself.°°°°
  6. o.k. From these posts I'm concluding that the "tai chi" katas that my shihan is teaching me are makeshift and I would not learn them if I were to take actual t'ai chi ch'aun.
  7. yeah. I'm just gonna watch the direction that this conversation goes.
  8. Thank you all very much for your input. Even though I only practice karate as of now but I do not want to be in the dark on other martial arts based subjects.
  9. Becoming a champion is extremely hard. You have to work your @$$ off to get there. You need to train every day. It is very hard but with enough work you may get it 9in a few years(maybe)).
  10. Ki,a very interesting subject. Thanks for the link.
  11. if you had one wish for some power that normal people don't have what wouold it be? I would wish for the power to become invisible.
  12. I practice Goju Ryu karate which is all about hard soft. What is shotokan's main focus?
  13. O.k. I'm not a kung fu practitioner, i study karate but (correct me if I'm wrong, cause I'm trying to find out about things) T'ai Chi Ch'aun is a kung fu style and tai chi is short for t'ai chi ch'aun. When you learn a beginners kata does one of them have you move back in forth in different rows shaped like an I? My techer makes us learn "tai chi" katas and I get the feeling that they are not real. Could any of you give me some feedback?
  14. Happy New Year Everyone! Welcome to 2002.
  15. True. Bruce Lee is the man on those nunchakus.

  19. What's your fav. PS2 game? I just got it for Christmas and I also received SSX Tricky ( a very good game).
  20. I'll make the story of the 47 Samurai as short as I can. A lord (Kira) pestered another lord (Asano) to get Asano to strike him (Kira) with his sword. Kira then ordered Asano to commit harikari (kill himself). In the years following Asano's (he's dead now) followers built an army of 47 Samurai. The Samurai set up a master plan to kill Kira, and they got revenge.

  23. I would usually grunt (as I do for power in some other situations), but if I was delivering the final hit that would knock 'em flat I would scream with all my might to concentrate power.
  24. I'm sorry. I can't help you there but I'll keep looking.
