ok now I see. That straight blast sounds very effective if you have quick munches and if they don't expect any attack like that.

All of your statements are very true and Jack has already done a good job of expressing points that I would have. One more thing is when you kick lead leg you absoulutely need to be able to control your kick. If you just kick and step down yor stance can be left wide open and vulnerable.

punching in the face in semi contact sparring
Joecooke007 replied to ad's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
If you're extremely worried about getting hit with a punch to the head you shouldmove into the punch. 90% of the punch comes in the last fraction on a second that you throw that punch. By moving in you cut off the source. the forehead is the toughest part of your heasd so if you are gonna take a punch take it to the forehead. -

sais are cool weapons. You can use them to pin swords. I am sorry to say that i am still too low a rank to practice them but when I get high enough my teacher has agreed to teach me.

Back on the subject on tonfa handling corn starch will help rotation w/o too much unwanted slippage.

I myself do not believe that an object without life can sustain its own energy force. I do however believe that one may be able to transfer their energy through the weapon that they are using and enable to deal strikes much more effectively.

Bos are very interesting weapons. They can effectively fend off sword attacks wich is very useful. They are also very good for sweeps which will give you an amazing upperhand in a fight. I love the bo as a weapons but I also love bladed weapons. Just the feel of them slicing air. Anyway... Yes bos are easy to find in a street fight situation. That is why they are very good but you must be trained to be able to use them from both sides and directions. :karate:

Gun fighting. I believe that gun fighting hurts martial arts, but my friend takes classes that only teach the self defense aspect of martial arts. Gun training would be good for more modern classes like that.

the nunti bo sounds very interesting. Have you started training in it yet? how does it handle?

Happy belated birthday! yeah knockin' someone's tooth out is pretty harsh but they can have it replaced. What did you get? -
I have some tips for soreness but I do not think that they have very long term effects. 1. warmth: keep your hips warm prior to practice. I cannot explain why this makes you less susceptible to pain. 2. massage: these always feel great and relieve stress. There maybe too much tension in your muscles and you need to loosen up. 3. I can't think of a good three right now but when I do I'll write another post.
