  1. Believe it or not there are those who have the extreme opposite of a "flat butte" who wish very much things were different.
  2. Welcome to the forum.
  3. I lost my links to the sites I was using when my hard drive got wiped last winter and have not put them back in yet. Actually I think I reformatted the disk I had that info on. Try a search and look around. There are a lot of sites. And some of them do specialize on certain types of books.
  4. Maybe using the high tech gym equipment available will be a sort of a vacation for you. Or at the very least a chance to try something new. Variety can be a good thing.
  5. Welcome to the forum.
  6. Welcome to the forum. As a student with multiple sclerosis I can attest that there is very definately more than one way to do things.
  7. Very interesting. Welcome to the forum.
  8. Happy birthday even if it is a day or so after the fact.
  9. Rubber tubing packs small and offers a lot of versatility. Pack your running gear yes, but be careful to do out and back outings to avoid getting lost in strange areas.
  10. Welcome to the forum. Not a spring chicken huh :???:I don't think I am either.
  11. Actually fighting someone who fights the way that you do should be a really great experience. Think about how things went. Think about which things were easier to counter and what got through.
  12. It may be very frustrating for you at times shuriken_gir. And anytime you want to talk to me feel free to email me at yahoo or send me a pm. With creativity and persistance you will find new ways to train and to adapt what you are allready doing. Punching bags are great for the frustration - trust me. In case you don't allready know it I have multiple sclerosis and have trained around a lot of challanges over the years. The most important thing is what ever happens don;t quit.
  13. Dog fighting is thouroughly disgusting and totally inhumane.
  14. I thought about his a bit Jack before I had even a bit of an idea about how to reply. I think in many ways you are looking for a combination of things that you will not find in any commercial school. Maybe a small group or a teacher/guru/guide or a series of them is what you are looking for. Put out feelers and see if you can find a private teacher or someone who just works with a few people. Maybe even a supplement to what you are doing now would help bring things up to par. Many do not look at the inner things the way you do. Many do not look at the inner side at all. I am currently experimenting with the liturgy of the hours. Then too you are at a point in your life where things change relatively quickly in the scheme of things (whether it seems like it or not). How things were last year will not be the same as they are this year. Excuse my ramblings but he new dosage of depakote hasn't totally kicked in yet.
  15. You know this was a fun thing regardless of the outcome. Some of the challanges were difficult and some were fun. I found the zoo scavanger hunt to be the most fun. And I think the most posts in both team and individual forms should be anycluded in any former games. And remind all future competitors that this is not a quick game. It will take some time. So play with commitment.
  16. With me it depends on the kick. For a roundhouse watchout for my right leg. For a front kick the left one will knock your block off. A spinning back kick the right one by far. And side kicks - well are about even.
  17. We had a situation where a young male was teasing a young female before class something about a weight issue. So come time to spar he kept having to get up off the floor. Guess who he was sparring with? Problem taken care of no more teasing.
  18. I shudder to think what is happening to the insides of heavy coke drinkers.
  19. Got some news today my blood work came back and my valproic acid level was too low. That happened before and after the depakote was increased my brain rediscovered the gears above 2nd. So in a week or so I should be more mentally active. Levels drop slowly so it is kind of hard to catch them until they are so low as to affect function. Does anyone else have trouble with chemical levels inside of their body affecting function.
  20. Makes you think doesn't it Hiya. Actually some of our schools are going to a year round schedule. And I think it is an improvement. They have longer breaks between quarters; without the inherant boredom of the traditional 3 month break.
  21. Okay three things hmmm 1. A case of MRE's; although they may at times not be the meal of choice are nutritous and will feed us well. And the way they are packaged the case will wash up in good shape. 2. A well packed case of books. Something to read would be greatly appreciated. 3. A tool box. It would be nice to have tools to build shelter with.
  22. We sometimes handled attitude problems while sparring. Put the problem in his place. Knock his butte to the other side of the room. Then when you are done let someone else have a turn.
  23. Jack we have towels for that. And most of the newer machines have a built in water bottle. I find it difficult to read on the treadmill; but the elliptical machine was much easier to read on. Those book holders are very useful.
  24. In the gym where I work out it is a common sight in the morning to see people on the aerobic machines (treadmills, bikes ellipticals) set up with a book holder training their mind and spirit by reading their bible while training. It is kind of neat the way some verses reverberate inside your head when you hit your rhythym. Rosaries are also a common sight in the early morning.
  25. Alliances? Nope made no alliances here nor was approached by anyone to make one. A desert Island? Well after a bit of thought I would pick KSN Doug. Based on his participation I think he has proven his ability as a survivor and thus a worthy companion. "
