Sanchin is only one kata. And one kata does not necessarily make or break a system. There are many in Goju who have trained for a lifetime.

Most intense training session?
SaiFightsMS replied to Jack's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I think the hardest and most demanding workout I have done was actually my 5th kyu test. I had been fairly sick and gave everything that I had that day doing the drills the kata, the sparring. And I had a weapns test that day too. If that test had gone on for 2 more minutes I would have been in a heap in the floor. That was the one test I really regretted not having my nice secure wheel chair to crawl into when it was all over. Getting to the car to get home was a real challange. It took me like three days to recover after that one. -

Sounds like you are getting a very interesting education in the martial arts from some very dedicated people. I have an interested in how people with physical challanges participate in the martial arts. Oh welcome to the forum.

Sometimes it seems like computers know just when to crash at the most inconvenient time.

I really like the office XP particularly I like the smoothe way that word works. It is still a bit of a nuisancee making sure that everything else I get is going to be compatable.

Hey I had an old Atari. Defender was my game back then I used to roll over the score. The new PC games are so much different than they were back then. Many now have story lines. Some follow actual historical facts. A simple game becomes a quest.

Someone voted for me? You mean I am not universally loved? :bawling: Just kidding I know I will be going the first time I am not immune. -
When I was in high school (early 70's) I had an uncle who did a lot of geanealogical research. Most of my family roots go back to the late 1700's when the areas that are not kentucky, Tennesse and the surrounding areas first opened up. They walked over the mountains and settled into the new areas. Most had came from England, Ireland and Scotland. Many were Scot-Irish.

I got Warcraft 2 at the same time I got Diablo. Then I promptly got hooked on Diablo and just had to have Diablo 2 and the expansion. I spend so much time ridding the world of evil I have not yet played much Warcraft. I like to go into the battlenet forums and read the questions and answers.

I've currently got a locked room mystery going. I like a lot of variety in my reading material. We had a really nice talk in cat chat yesterday about the King/Rice/Simmons/Koontz genre of books.

I had no idea when I got my computer that I would have no idea how much fun I would have playing games. My current addiciton is Diablo 2 the expansion. My strongest characters are Barbarians with mace masteries. Nothing beats that double swing with 2 flails. Some of my other favorite games are Pharoah, Age of Empires, Myst, Warcraft, hey I like stragegy games.

I have to admit it did require a bit of getting used to when i first upgraded. And some of the updates which are coming out don't always download and install properly. And then it took a week to download update files to many of my other programs. And the program which supported my cd writer didn't have upgrades to xp I had to buy the next version of the program. Then a month later my cd writer died. AAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH

Does Anyone Play Dungeons and Dragons?
SaiFightsMS replied to BlueDragon1981's topic in General Chat
I used to play D&D. Haven't played since college though. It is a good game. And it is a great way to exercise ones creativity and mental imagery. -
Sounds like we may be in for some iteresting and informative stories.

It is amazing how many activities have aspects similar to those of martial arts practitioners. And most of these activities have a competitive nature to them. Wether we realize it or not is it truly possible to practice a martial art without also practicing some sort of mental imagery.

Just a note on grey gi's. Most of them started out as heavier weight black gis. Time and washings fade them down do grey. That is one of the big differences between black and very dark blues. Black fades down to grey and the blue stays darker.

I do Jutte, Jiin and Jion but I really don't have any idea whichh order others learn them in. So much for oral tradition. It has its benefits and its limitations. I kind of think though, that if Jiin is in the middle the slower movements give a bit of a chance to catch the breath.

:spitlaugh: :spitlaugh:I came so close to spitting tea all over my keyboard. Now that I have quit laughing I cheat. I wear 10 oz pants with an elastic waist. You know an interesting thread might be how do you determine when it is time to retire your gi.
