  1. I find working kata blindfolded helps improve balance.
  2. A late welcome back at ya'. I allways like to see new addtitions to the over 40 crew here.
  3. I hesitated about posting this because of the potential for harmful arguement it might generate. But I think there are those who will take a constructive look at this link. It is a link to an english translation of a jihad training manual. http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/jihadmanual.html
  4. Just being curious and playing with it. Sometimes playing around with a kata sheds new light on possible applications.
  5. I kind of like the idea of round house kick into an elbow strike.
  6. Being senior student affects people in different ways some favorably others unfavorably. Some can't wait others have to be pushed into it kicking and screaming. It is a big step regardless. Boy does this bring back memories. For the most part is is a big time for growth. You feel like you are learning so much. Then as time passes you realize how much more you need to know.
  7. Yes stay in the stance and the forward moving pattern.
  8. I work on the tekki katas in the hallway in my apartment building. I have had some very interesting encounters with neighbors. At least for the most part they have a good sense of humor.
  9. You can try using a point to focus your eyes upon. Many do this with a candle flame.
  10. Well I am a big Steven King fan; and my favorite is The Stand. I read it before they made the movie. As far as books made into movies they did a fairly good job with that one but they did have to leave a lot out because of time constraints. But to be real honest I would rather read King, Koontz, Rice, Simmons, Barker etc than watch the movie.
  11. We played with it as kids once kind of like a game. Nothing serious and nothing really happened.
  12. If you were to come up with another approach to that move what attack would you use?
  13. That was an understatement. A big understatement. I guess everyone sooner or later smells something they will never forget. That fall kimchee making season was mine.
  14. So what is wrong with being left handed?
  15. Hey don't laught too hard have you ever smelled the stuff being made? I will never forget and that was something like 26 years ago. The whole ville reeked at kimchee making time.
  16. Welcome to the forum.
  17. Regardless of how you make it remember it will stinky your house up to the max!!!!!!!!!
  18. The kimchee I remember being made was done in the fall. It was cabbage mixed with seasonings and other stuff and placed in large crocks to pickle. And it smelled really foul in the making. In the country I saw crocks outside of the houses and in the cities I saw the crocks on rooftops.
  19. I have seen shi-to ryu groups execute them has shuto's. Palm heel's do seem to be the standard with shotokan. And then Shorin ryu doesn;t do the kata.
  20. For those of you who do Jutte/Jitte when you do the first moving sequence toward the front of the dojo do you do palm hand or shuto strikes? I have seen it done both ways in different styles and am wondering what others have to say about how they do it.
  21. I have been running the grisoft software since I have had this computer on the advice of my brother. And I have to say I really like it. I had MacAfee at one time and prefer this. And they do update regularly.
  22. I think enough has been said on this topic and I am going to close it now. We are not here to ague and attack each others arts or opinions. This is an old topic that will generate endless debate. Most of which just goes around in circles. I think we have had enough for the time being.
  23. Doing situps in slow motion is also a good variation. Just kind of pretending there is a rope hanging over you and pull yourself up hand over hand using the hanging (invisible) rope.
  24. Please respect each other and their opinions. It is never appropriate to belittle they style another person has chosen to study. And it is really never acceptable to belittle another persons "opinion".
