  1. I'm going to say James with the golden gun over batman, with out the gold gun batman would mop the floors with 007.
  2. Basic Kicks and punches will help you to develop good structure to which a good art will build on. Maybe you hit a time of year where the instructor is teaching Grappling techniques. If it doesn't change I'd be asking some questions. Most Karate school do Kata, Katas contain all of the basic kicks punches and blocks that are needed. good luck
  3. Just work on the basics of your art and all the style and technics will flow in to place if you have and open mind and work hard.
  4. It's nice to see some fathers out there are spending time with the young ones. He'll be a undestructable force at the age of 6....lol good luck
  5. I started at 23 and I don't regret it at all, it's great to get back into it.Good Luck
  6. that ones cool and you can get some good power off of it
  7. sometimes simple techniques work good, like a lead jab or a simple side kick, learning and MA can be difficult at times for some and fancy kicks usually don't work in a real situation.
  8. Do a little reserch into it, colleges are more than welcome to show any athelete there facilities and give you more information if you attend their school. Use the net to find colleges that offer these teams and apply accordingly to what suits you needs. (find the best deal)
  9. It will be challanging for you, however the reward when you get there will be worth it. Just train hard and fight smart and you'll get there
  10. good point, angling off the lead piercing kick can be effective if the person isn't good at keeping there leg up. Another method of dealing with this is to grab or tap the lead leg away from you so that your opponent is off balance and their back is facing you. Then you can hitem in the side of the head with a reg hand punch. Which usually comes in from over top to the side of the temple.I use this all the time and picked it up at a tournament over in England. You have to practice it alot for it to be effective.
  11. sad , glad they are both in jail for doing such bad things like that.
  12. I train in a heavy weight uniform and compete in a light weight...It makes every kick and punch a bit faster (it seems). I like a nice light weight uniform when competing because it is lighter and breaths better.
  13. Rowing is the way to go for scholarships. Colleges tend to give scholarships away like pez in some staes for rowing. And it's a good workout too..
  14. A nice light jog is great and then some stretching makes me feel great everymorning
  15. I like the competativeness of MA. Every aspects of any art challange a person to become better physically and mentally. I use to train just with weights and there was no sense of competition- like in MA. Evertime I pad up, presents itself with a new challenge and nothing elses beats that.
  16. I have to say that there is no perfect art. If you choose to fight, all that matters is if you walk away unharmed. Being real tough helps too.
  17. I'd find a new school, your instructor being the most senior belt- should have the most control over kicks and punches. When I spar with my instructor he will kick to the head but he can just lightly tap a person to teach them to keep there gaurd up. Do your homework when looking for a good martial arts school. As for the yellow belt competing against a brown or black belt and getting the snot kicked out of him- I don't think that this is normal. good luck on your decision

  20. Try a rear leg round house, then a hook kick coming back with the same foot. It works, and is very annoying. Just keep working on it, it should come in time.
  21. I've met lots of tall opponents that were fast. I can see your point on a small person being faster, however to generalize all tall competetors as being slow would be wrong. The skill of a fighter has everything to do with the level and seriousness of a fight/sparing match.
