  1. Lifting weights at a young age can stunt your growth. How it happens is ligfting heavy weight shortens the muscle fibres in your overall muscles. At 15 your still due for at least 1 more growth spurt. If I were you I would hold off on it until you get bigger/taller or you talk to your doctor about it. It wouldn't hurt to ask him/her about this. If you were going to get a weight vest I would start off with the lightest and work from there
  2. Well losing sucks, and poor sportsman ship after the fact is even worse. Did you learn any thing from this experience? Don't get down about the loss and train harder for the next one ! Maybe you'll even knock her out next time and then take the high road on winning by being gracious and not being a poor sport like your opponent demonstrated. It was your first tournament so don't take it to heart in the 3rd place finish. Get well and train hard
  3. Just be confident( and yourself)....Being Confident is the best way to meet new girls. I've alawys met my past girl friends through friends. Just be yourself and be confident and you wil find someone.
  4. wow, first things fisrt your young, be nice to her and move on. (to be blunt) When I was 20, I wanted to party as hard as I could all the time with no regrets. I have met lots of 30 yaer old women that don't want to get married, so don't take it personally. Travel across the country or do something that being married won't allow you to do easy. Your a young guy and life can be crapy but if you can move on and enjoy your time you may find someone else that has all of her qualities and some more things too.
  5. Leg press, squats , dead lifts and anyother wieght plus lots of cardio will help you srenghten you legs.
  6. This sounds a bit farmilar, I took a round kick to the groin and became #2, too.
  7. Another thing to look at when try to lose weight is putting on muscle mass. If you are losing fat an build up strong muscles then you may be at the same weight but instead of fat weight you will have muscle weight. Start off slow and work into it. If you assess you goals every month of trianing it'll be eaiser to ses progress, good luck
  8. He was suspeneded for the rest of the playoffs and the playoffs too. Possibly criminal charges are being filed too.

  11. Was Todd Bertuzis punishment of 17 games (min.) soft or hard. If anyone is unawre of this, it was a cheap shot that knocked out his opponent in a hockey game last week (NHL). His opponent now lays in hospital with a fractured neck, caused from him hitting the ice. Burtuzzi is a good hockey player and it was out of character for him to do this. Personally I think he should be out for as long as the guy who he hurt with the cheap shot. go to http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=1756628 for the whole story
  12. It's not too late for you, your focus should be better now than when you were 13. Train hard and eat right and you'll become a good fighter.
  13. well just a little word of advise....If this back yard MMA does happen you could be held legally responsible if anyone gets seriously hurt. I realize that your at an age where you want to compete with the best and proove how successfull you can be. Backyard competition is not the best way to go about his. If your dad has an opinion that all martial artist are unskilled, try to change his mind by asking him to take some classes. Lastly, if there is a backyard fight you coluld be sued and held responsibly for any injuries.
  14. In ten years I will be at the same weight and laughing at all my friends that are getting out of shape now. I may start another style just to experance another style.
  15. We have a student at our club the moved to Canada form Russia. He was a red belt in Karate. He was awarded a blue belt at our club based on his basic movements in TKD. However, he is an excellent fighter and has lots of talent. It bothered him at first but once he got going with training he has accepted his current rank and is train exceptionall well. If it was mee inthis situation I would be a little PO'ed but would have to accept it and train hard to become a better fighter.
  16. Try to time a side kick as soon as he/she comes around. If this doesn't work for me I usally move in and jam their leg.
  17. Here's the density of Pine woods. Pine ( Oregon ) 530 kg/cu.m Pine ( Parana ) 560 kg/cu.m Pine ( Canadian ) 350 - 560 kg/cu.m Pine ( Red ) 370 - 660 kg/cu.m conversion factor from english to metric: 1 lb/ cu. ft =16.02 kg/cu. m The reason white pine is used is because it is less dense than yellow and can be broke easier. It is also a little cheaper when it comes to buying it depending on where you live. To buy really expensive wood and break it, is kinda silly and not economical. The dryness of the wood is also a fact to take into consideration. The more wet a wood is the more dense it will be. (harder to break). Another factor to look at when answering this question is what region the wood came from, different regions have differnt growing conditions. You could have the exact same breed of tree and the density of the wood be different because of growing conditions of where the wood came from. If you want to break yellow wood from the local hardware store, fill you boots. White pine is cheaper and more common in most places in North America though.
