  1. so it's agreed, then, that the only way to cure over confidence is to knock him around a bit? surely there's a better way than that... ...right?
  2. "Don't know what his rank is, but would'nt it be a better idea to have your Sensei spar w/ him" good idea, however, i don't think it would help much, as it's been established that the guy respects people of higher rank. unless you had your sensei wear a white belt, and i'd hope he'd notice the difference
  3. matrix is my favorite movie too also, if you look in your local library system, you'll probably be able to find once upon a time in china and the original legend of the drunken master, both fantastic movies. if not, you'll easily be able to find them in a bargain bin. also, you can never go wrong with a good muppet movie or the nightmare before christmas.
  4. oh, just a note: no, i'm not homosexual, it's just that growing up my dad was gone most of the time and so i was raised in a family of all girls, really, and they rated men all the time, so i know what to look for in case y'all were wonderin, myself aside, no one gets hotter than brandon boyd, male wise.
  5. how could you not like tom cruise ? a major hottie. speaking of hot guys, the scottish guy in tomb raider 2 was really hot, you may consider seeing it just for him
  6. the founder of my art is still alive and kickin', grandmaster joo bang lee, world champion of hwarang do.
  7. hm. weird. i'll see if we have any in the back of the dojang, maybe give 'em a shot.
  8. i haven't seen the karate kid since i was about 4 or 5, but i suddenly got the urge to run out and rent it as far as steven segal goes, i think the lack of acting ability and hideously cheesy one liners are enough to drown out the limb breaks of the movie "you broke my wood.... that's not good"
  9. well, i know that in cross country there's a bit of a concern with that in things like fruit juice, but there are kinds of fruit juice that don't have excess sugars and such in it. hang on, lemme check for a brand name ... dole and shurfine. as far as actual fruits go,i have the advantage of living 3 blocks away from a grocery store, so i've never had the problem. but i've never heard of anyone ever ruining their diet from eating from a jar of canned peaches.
  10. i really don't think the difference is large enough to warrant that big a hassle
  11. well, perhaps i just totally missed something huge in the movie, but i was under the impression that the needles weren't poisoned, and that he was just sticking the into vital points along the body. but whatever. i was also under the impression that that was just a movie prop, though i could be wrong; i know absolutely nothing about acupuncture. i would imagine an accupuncture supply store, if they exist. otherwise, i suppose it would be easy enough to make on one your own.
  12. "If there's a track open for public use, use it. If not, just jog around your neighborhood" running is an excellent way to lose weight and get in shape. but i'd just skip the track, if i were you. going up and down hill will work more muscles than running on level ground, and quite frankly, it's a lot more scenic and you might even meet some interesting people
  13. oh yeah, so to prevent the thread from being locked, just be nice to everyone regardless of gender, no matter what the reason, be it whether you respect them or if you find them inferior in your little mind, because it's just the nice thing to do. chivalry may no longer have a place in the modern world, but there's no reason why common courtesy dosen't, as people in here seem to be saying.
  14. well, first up, as to the abortion topic, i've been in that debate many a time and one girl gave me a sort of slogan that summarized the general view point: "bros don't know". i don't know what it's like to go through the 9 month process, i don't know what it's like to bare the child (though, although i'm sure it's painful, i think there's a limited amount of times a woman can use that in an argument.) and i don't know what it's like to finally see the child that just sprang from my loins; to see the little guy/gal who i've just spent my last 9 months with and will spend the rest of my life raising and doing my best to reflect my values and morals on to him/her. and although way may be crucial to the whole process, in the end i've found that the male plays a very minor role as far as abortion goes. teh only thing you can really control is whether or not to impregnate the woman to begin with, after that, she could very well be on her own. and do just fine, mind you. second, you're making a lot of generalizations that, quite frankly, just aren't fair, even if it is against your own gender. "were slow, inflexable, narrowminded, accident prone, hormone driven, never in control of our own emmotions, and generally stupider than you!"? that's quite possibly the biggest stereotype i've heard all summer. it's really not at all ethical to just lump men into that category. you're saying that men tend to be fat lazy slobs who do nothing but think about sex and destroy stuff, and quite frankly, i think that everyone here knows that that's just simply not true. i don't believe that two genders can co-exist if this is going to be the belief. and, no one ever said that a woman wants to be like a man. the feminist movement wasn't to make women more like men, but to ensure that men and women have the same rights. it's like the poster in my old history teachers room said: i'm not a feminist, but- i like that i can wear pants if i want to i appreciate that i do what i please without the fear of my husband having the authority to beat me i'm pleased that i have the ability to... and it went on with more sentences like that; i can't remember it, it went something like that.
  15. my sisters friend can bench 300 lbs. one day, he woke up and he couldn't feel his left hand. it was really bugging him so he went to the doctor. the doctor was like "dude, your muscles are to big for your body. it's cutting off some nerves and that's why you can't feel your hand. you either need to stop lifting or live with the fact that you can't feel your hand". he decided to keep lifting cuz he didn't think his forearms were big enough
  16. oh yeah? can they do this?
  17. ...it all makes sense now...
  18. well, the manga is pretty expensive, so i've never really read it. hey TKDShoujo, is your avatar quistis? ach, ff8 is such a great game! but yeah, girls in the martial arts... they sure are something...
  19. indeed, though the OVA is far superior
  20. "I like Dolph Lundgren..." where i work, i'm the only male, and we have a computer in the back room to place orders and stuff, and for the longest time, i'd say about 2 months, the wallpaper on the screen was of dolph lundgren's abs!
  21. "Isnt that from Rurouni Kenshin?" yeah, but i'd hardly call myself a manslayer. or a master of the sword, for that matter...
  22. oh, you mean IN 2 years! i'm sorry, it's early in the morning, i'm really out of it!
  23. wait... don't most people get their belts after 2 years? i did
  24. i would say hwarang do for the same reasons above plus emphasis on various mental aspects... why do i get the feeling everyone will just slap there own style on this thread?
