dude, west side story! the jets and the sharks! you don't need to be old to know that!
-
actually i'm 17 all that aside, ren n' stimpy, FO parents, and cow and chicken (which i couldn't stand, btw) are all far from the best cartoons. i think the one that i probably enjoyed the most and had the greatest impact on me was teenage mutant ninja turtles. i still bring out my old tapes from time to time, lol

yeah, it's a sign of respect, not a bell to start the round

in the dojang, if anyone struck me while i was bowing, i'm sure they would at least be warned, if not thrown out of class. i don't think i've ever seen anyone bow outside of the dojang.
-
well, if you're gonna bash fairly odd parents for holy cream fillings (i have yet to hear this), then you're gonna wanna point out that ren n' stimpy was ripping off batman from way back in 1966
-
uh... how is the fairly odd parents a rip off of ren and stimpy...?

just to clear this up, i don't know a blasted thing about cars. i can totally see myself putting sand behind the back wheels...

i have no shame in saying that's one of my new favorite cartoons too! me and my friends rented it awhile back cuz we were gonna riff some movies and one of my friends who liked the show saw the movie so we grabbed it. i ended up loving it! jorgen von stranglehold is one of the coolest characters ever! "someone tell me what in the name of my bulging tricep muscles is going on so i can get back to my manly bath!"

Keanu Reeves, martial artist?
battousai16 replied to Rich_2k3's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
"that guy was actually supposed to be Jet Li but the film couldn't afford him cuz he asked for somthing like 30 million" they couldn't afford jet li, but they could afford to build an entire freeway for that car chase? hmph. not that i disagree or anything (i would never pay 30 million for jet li, especially since he can be fairly easily replaced, minus the star power thing. the current seraph did a stellar job), i just kind of find that funny. -
Kung Pow! enter the fist!
battousai16 replied to fireka's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
i was quite fond of the final showdown between betty and chosen one, when the guy comes out and starts that song. "there's got to be a morning afterrrrrrrrr..." it reminds meof a lot of the music we train to at my dojang, sometimes it just seems so out of place. i'm sorry, but there just isn't a place at all for a techno remix of "dowa diddy", "gimme some lovin", or "the time warp". as much as i love my dojang, the biggest downside is (depending on who's teaching) you are subjected to some of the worst music man kind has ever known -
what do you think of mediocre blackbelts?
battousai16 replied to kungfumaster's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
"I think that poor black belts are the ones who pass judgement...we are told not to pass judgement on other styles...but if it is a person in our style that is OK? I think not... " hmmm... good point... "Cheeky got it right when he said some people give it their all and some dont... " i could be way off, but i seem to recall the young cheekymusician being a she -
Um help?
battousai16 replied to shinimegami412's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
i'd hate to sound like i'm just making a plug for my own style, but i believe that there's a hwa rang do school somewhere in chicago. a very nice, well rounded style that touches deep into the philosophical aspect of things. a lot of political controversy, but it dosen't affect the art in its self. i'd check it out if it's near by -
matrix reloaded
battousai16 replied to crash's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
seraph was definitely awsome, i really liked him, but i don't see much of a purpose for him. i trust they will elaborate on him more in revolutions as well. does anyone know when reloaded is coming out? on dvd, i mean? chicago is already out, and they were in theaters at the same time... -

battousai16 replied to crash's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
ach; i guess i missed that, or i haven't seen THAT preview, or something. i can't wait for that final show down, though, agent smith is easily my favorite character "Mr. Anderson..." -
funny, eh? i recomended mystery science theater 3,000: the movie last week, lets see what i can find now... i'll suggest true lies "the guy is a $#@! used car salesman; this just keeps getting better and better! oh, i'm sorry harry, this must be killing you... but you gotta admit, if this was happening to someone else and not you you'd be laughing your @#! off right now!"

battousai16 replied to ramcalgary's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
i'll have to submit the fight scene in the training hall with all of the cool weapons from crouching tiger, hidden dragon. and the fights at the end of game of death. and the fight scene in the newer drunken master in the court yard against the bunch of guys and chan's mom get's him drunk. anything in once upon a time in china. -
New Jet Li Movie!!!
battousai16 replied to Kickbutt's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
"Bruce Lee: Fighting Spirit. " gah. informative book, but very poorly written. a note to the author: the fact that you played bass for the pretenders is all well and good, but i got the book to read about bruce lee, not you. you don't have to keep mentioning it every other page. on top of that, it was poorly organized, and his mood establishing/settings seemed cheesey and hack-ish -
"The story got more interesting towards the end, but I can't be sure since I think I dozed off somewhere around the middle. " "Battousai: Out Cold is supposed to be a stupid movie, that's why it's so funny. " nope, i don't accept that. i mean, at least most stupid movies have concept of SOME KIND. maybe it was the people i was watching it with... ah, who knows, again, to each his own. not my kind of movie. i dunno, even "dude, where's my car" gave me at least 1 cheap laugh, though...

i don't know who said this and i forget exactly how it goes (i read it on the back of a tshirt), but: "better people have been in prison and lived in the margins than people who have been enshrined in palaces" "lord, make me an instrument of your peace where there is hatred, let me sow love, where there is injury, pardon where there is doubt, faith where there is despair, hope where there is darkness, light where there is sadness, joy" -a prayer my grandma pounded into my head whenever she baby sat me "'you know what i say to people when i hear they're writing anti-war books?' 'No. what do you say, harrison starr?' 'i say 'why don't you write an anti-glacier book instead?' what he meant, of course, was that there woul always be wars, and that they were as easy to to stop as glaciers. i believe that, too" Kurt Vonnegut

i just grabbed the "new" (by new i mean new for me, not new, lol. it's their newEST) queens of the stone age cd. that's been working too

matrix reloaded
battousai16 replied to crash's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
you know, i might just be a huge idiot and missed something totally obvious, but here's my biggest question from the movie: agent smith isn't an agent right? he's free, he's a glitch, yada yada? why is he still after neo? is this just a fate thing? why does smith even care anymore? if he randomly crossed neo on the street and attacked i might understand, but agent smith is going out of his way to track neo down and stop him. why? does this have something todo with the connection they have that he alluded to during the big fight scene? i trust if no one knows, they'll explain it in the third one, but this is really buggin me if someone does know, ya mind lettin me in on it? -

The Medallion--
battousai16 replied to OldRookie's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
well, in MY opinion, jackie chan's best movie is probably one of the drunken master ones, i'd say the first. in response to jet li, the one and romeo must die were god awful movies. it was all i could do to sit through them. jet li didn't even do anything especially cool in the RMD. i never saw cradle 2 the grave, maybe i'll pick it up next time i go to family video. kiss of the dragon was far from a good movie, though i'll give you that jet li did cool stuff in it. you talk about jet li's movies being so much better, and yet you don't even mention once upon a time in china? hmmm... -
hey, another ben! if you look in the health, training, and fitness section you'll find all sorts of stretches and exercises that'll help you along. can't say i know of any dojangs though, sorry
