i personally was pretty dissapointed with grand theft auto. though it's impressive, it really got old after awhile a bit over rated in my opinion

anyone can beat a pro by button mashing (yes, there's a term for it) in a fighter, it depends on the luck. i'd like to see someone try to beat my law or lay by button mashing with say, gun jack, kuma, or xiaoyu i beat my friend who's owned the game for 6 months by button mashing my first time around. that's why gamers hate button mashing; because they just might win virtua fighter 4 is no different. i like the tekken controls just fine, thank you very much

the balance of incline, decline and flat bench press
battousai16 replied to ad's topic in Health and Fitness
well, but it takes a heck of a lot less to do a proper bench press than it does for a proper, say, side kick, and i think we're all willing to do that and if you can do a correct bench press, it works out so much more than a smith machine, i assume. whatever that is. -

How do you handle Stare Downs??

not the most honorable route, but definitely practical -

ach; i thought you meant older, "rocky" styled trainers. my bad. but i doubt the leg press gives you HALF the benefits of a squat, front or back! psh... morons... -
Kill Bill
battousai16 replied to battousai16's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
oh yeah, and keep in mind we still haven't seen the entire movie, it was cut in half. so niether of us have accurate statements until that one comes out, and, to be honest with you, i think i'm a little more excited for kill bill 2 than matrix revolutions... perhaps you're right, perhaps it does deserve movie of the year... hopefully they'll throw in a little something from the original drunken master, that's the best kung fu movie ever -

well, for me, and i believe for mr. tarantino as i've read, the heart of the movie was to create an homage to various martial arts movies. i love martial arts movies. they probably take up about 70% of my film collection a lot of the fun in this movie for me was picking out little "tributes" to other movies, ie: bruce lee's track suit, the kato masks, the flying gulliotine, the run run shaw production logo, the little stinger that kept coming up, etc. i'm not saying the film had no heart, it's just not the heart i'm looking for. and, btw, it is ok to just sit down and enjoy a movie once and awhile and you participated at sundance? that's awsome! -
the balance of incline, decline and flat bench press

wait, are you kidding me? there are actually people who just cut out squats? but it does so much if done right! what exercises can you do to replace it? maybe it's cuz the trainer in the weight room is a "dinosaur" as you put it, but he always says that if you only have time for one lift, it should be sqauts. -

"erm, guys. just what did you expect from the film? it doesn't pretend to be anything more than entertainment. it was meant to be fun" precisely, and that's why it will never be my favorite movie. it was very enjoyable; brilliant for what it was, but that dosen't make it a brilliant movie. and i understand that it's not supposed to be realistic, it's because it's not realistic that it just can't be the greatest movie ever made. there are to many movies out there that are intellectually stimulating for me to settle for uma thurman hacking a bunch of people to death (which was very cool, by the way). it's not that i missed the point, i just don't feel it was the best movie to come out this ye... actually, now that i think of it, i don't remember any movies off the top of my head that i liked more... hmmm... definitely not best score, though. the costumes were done well though and the direction was very good, too. that segment in anime was a nice touch -
Final Fantasy VIII was way better. i'd take it over VII any day

Kill Bill
battousai16 replied to battousai16's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
but never say never again WAS the worst james bond movie ever made! though, in all fairness, i'm about ready to concede that perhaps license to kill was a tad bit worse. i keep falling asleep during that one, i can never make it in a full sitting! 'sides, i don't think it takes much to knock "kung pow:enter the fist" off of the favorite movie slot i personally think that to become a favorite movie of mine, i have to learn something, particularly about myself. everything else is just super entertaining. or awful. or something in between. i didn't really get anything out of kill bill, except a good time. but i think movies are to powerful to just settle for that. and, i must say, as i think about it, it greatly annoys me that she managed to mercilessly slaughter all of these people without consequence. you'd think SOMEBODY would have called the police, particularly cottenmouths daughter or the people at oren ishii's club. especially since she was driving the single most flamboyant truck that's ever had it's wheels on this earth. atleast a siren off in the distance. it really would lose a lot of the fun if it did, but geez, come one! and the nick name "california mountain snake" is just far to cumbersom. especially with the basic deadly snakes like "cobra" or "viper" or "python" still haven't been used. and the fact that she managed to get so much strength back within 13 hours after being in a coma for 4 years. but now i'm just ranting. it was a very good and enjoyable movie, i just think it has a ways to go before it's the greatest of all time. -
wow, i've never met someone else who thought the controls to VF4 sucked! everybody else was raving how absolutely brilliant of a game it was, where as i just said "feh, the sega saturn ones were better". i'm a much bigger fan of tekken, particularly law or lei wu long. i didn't like the controls to dead or alive, though, and i was never that in to street fighter. Ergheiz? i never got around to playing that. a friend of mine bought it (for cloud, of course) and proclaimed it the second most awful fighter he's ever played! he is, however, one of those people who bases games almost completely on graphical prowess, however. his reaction to final fantasy VII was (he started around the time X came out) "wow, it's actually a pretty good game, despite the bad graphics..."

eternal champions was a really good game, but it was so hard! gah, i must have broken at least 2 controllers on that bloody game! and stratego beats risk any day

Kill Bill
battousai16 replied to battousai16's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
though it was certainly a good movie, i think you may be rating it just a wee bit too high, especially on the original score part, which i actually found to be quite lacking. no danny elfman, to say the least. however, my buddies and i keep writing "BILL" in, say, the dust on his car windows or on papers at school ominously and with reverence, so at least it was influential -

battousai16 replied to battousai16's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
^yeah, that was half the fun of it; finding little tributes to other movies. the other two people i was with don't really watch kung fu movies though, so i'd be like "HA! THAT'S AWSOME!" or something to that effect and they'd just be say "yeah, whatever". -
Kill Bill
battousai16 replied to battousai16's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
well, i saw it today, and thought it was pretty good. the fight scenes were very cool, and it was kind of fun recognizing references to other martial arts movies. very, very gorey though, which was the major downside. that, and the name "Bill" just dosen't shoot terror into my soul... i just can't picture the name uttered with reverence -
welcome to the forums i hope so too

you know, i have soul calibur 2, and i've beaten it and have everything unlocked (i have so much free time on my hands), and it was a lot of fun, but i still hold that i had much more fun with the tekken series.
-
oh, don't get me wrong, both tekken 3 and 4 were better games (i didn't much care for tag), but i just had more fun playing tekken 2. at the time the experience was much newer. like the first time i was lei wu long and i could just switch styles like that, that was awsome. and all the new moves law had, and... wow, good times, good times...
-
i really like the tekken series, i think i had the most fun with tekken 2
