  1. The K-1 homepage might have some Andy Hug highlights. btw striking is not allowed in Sport grappling BJJ..only mma
  2. I didn't say that anywhere in my post. I said the article is extremely bias toward it's own style. There's pleanty of traditional schools that don't teach as many "realistic" techniques as they should. But the article insinuates that none of them are any good. ok, but on a side not it is a martial art's academy that teaches traditional aswell.
  3. mma means mixing martial arts..you said okinowan karate was superior to mma...so okinowan karate is only superior to mma if you are mixing effective modern stlyles?
  4. Sure thing, you right...I guess capoiera fighters continually getting bruatally beaten or crawling out of the ring everytime they fight means nothing. I have nothing against capoiera..im sure it alot of fun but there are more effective fighting arts.
  5. if it's a watered down version of Capoeiera then that dosent say much...capoeiera dosent do much compared to alot of stlyes in it's combative form.
  6. I think that if someone was a good full contact fighter when they were younger they will hold their skills just as well as anyone else..Age affects every stlye...not just boxing/muay thai etc
  7. your talking about a vertical front kick aimed at your midsection right? what are you doing to defend it/redirect it? Technique wise.
  8. some stlyes have alot more o f Mcdojo syndrom than others..
  9. I though you said Okinowan Karate was better than MMA?
  10. 16 oz gloves can create bad habits.. you can kind of use them a shield when you block..covering you head/face since they are much larger than your hands redirecting punches is also a bit more difficult..along with other small habits you pick up...sometimes you throw punches you normally wouldent because your hands are protected. But generally i think the benefits far outweight the losses.
  11. https://www.sherdog.com
  12. do you really think the UFC is scripted? I think the burden of proof is on you if so
  13. intresting...i know several guys that are 60+ and can still beat the crap out of most people thats really not a valid argument..there are alot of old thai fighters out there who can still throw down despite what people think
  14. Intresting, alot of claims..if they are all true then he is definetly an impressive man...although did say he studies many other styles..38 i belive..
  15. I would like to see that link if you could find it.
  16. exactly and to do that you learn how to grapple/avoid submissions.
  17. I agree. I'll push it as long as I can, but when it gets to the point of causing damage I'll tap. exactly if you are to the point where you cant get out then they could obviously do some damgage if they wanted to..tapping out just means "yea you got me" ..it's just practice.
  18. I think it's pretty stupid to not tap out durring training/practice...
  19. no..the point is..you pinch my groin and I break your arm..who wins that exchange?
  20. cauliflower ears are nasty...you make a good point..its a good question.
  21. No, I would advise them to learn Krav Maga.
  22. Tank about went to a boxing Gym for 12 years and wrestled since he was a little kid all the way thru his 20's ..he calles him self a street fighter(and he is) but infact he has a very dangerous combo under his belt(boxing + wrestling).
  23. i used to think that but really the rules force fighter to obtain a higher skill level...i mean you can just lay in someone gaurd and headbut them..alot of the tactics they got rid of were not fight enders anyways. but the old ones are fun to watch.
  24. dude, did you notice how it said "sarcasm" at hte bottom of his post? yea..that means hes joking most likely..calm down.
  25. I think its possible that it can be used in a self defense situation but For the most part if someone is looking to learn how to defend themselves I think there are more efficent ways.
