  1. like kensai said..most people could "do it"..just like any person can kick or punch or knee or elbow..that dosent mean they are good at it like a fighter is...same applies here.
  2. If you belive Jiu Jitsu isint effective but Break dancing can be then i think you should seriously evaluate your entire thinking of the MA world here are some realistic choices... Jiu Jitsu Wrestling Sambo Judo
  3. here are a few short videos clips of "The Axe Murdered" Vanderlei SIlva fighting in Vale tudo. http://216.40.244.4/misc/bvt10/bvt10_silva_vs_marcelao.zip http://216.40.244.4/misc/ivc2/ivc2_silva_vs_bormet.zip http://216.40.244.4/misc/ivc6/ivc6_silva_vs_arsdale.zip
  4. here is my opininon, You dont HAVE to be a ring fighter to do well on the street but I think anyone who has steped into a ring with someone wanting to take their head off is going ot be better prepared than someone who has not. people try to discredit ring fight because it's not "Real" but 90% of MMA fighting translated well into a real fight, MMA fighters are the greatest fighters in the world and i think its funny how they can absoulty dominate people in a cage but once they step out somehow they are not as good of fighters. If they can win against trained fighters normal thugs will be a walk in the park I know competition is not for everyone but i think it's a powerful learning experience for anyone who has not been in a fight...it's intresting to see how well your training works once punches are comming at you...i think alot of people would be suprised..
  5. pulling out a knife will usually end a fight before it starts...most people dont want to risk getting stabbed...knives are very intimidating..but if you do pull one out you should be ready to use it or it might get used on you.
  6. it's a theory What bruce did should not be the same as what you do.
  7. this topic has come up several times rescently try a search.. mainly TJJ has more stikes and standup grappling while BJJ foucuses more on the ground side. ALso BJJ is know for practicing Fully against a resisting opponet alot more. I think Rickson Gracie said the only diffrence between TJJ and BJJ is that in Brazil they actually do it.
  8. Venazuelo-there is not magic technique for beating multiple attackers, more of certain strategy strategy. Like with alot of stlyes i would be more worried about not being able to beat 1 person..BJJ can pretty much garantee that at least..however a striker with good takedown defenses has a preyy good chance at beating more than 1 Untrained person. A devestating striker has a much better chance at winning than a grappler..that could be several stlyes.. Muay Thai Boxing Krav Maga Kyokushin etc.

  10. I agree that you should get a good base in one also. I think out of those 3 Boxing would be the best one to start with.
  11. http://www.bullshido.com/article_read.asp?id=52 is the article on it.
  12. im sure there are people who know better than me but from what i have heard..emin attacked him randomly in the class..and the video has been edited to make emin look good...either way they look like two 12 years olds fighting.
  13. BJJ does not claim to be able to beat multiple attackers, it is designed to fight 1 vs 1 but i think it gives you the best chance if thats the case. I dont think it's complete by itself butatleast it dosent claim to be able ot do thingsit cant like 90% of the people out there.
  14. I dont think you should get a black belt in aikido after 1 year...i have heard several people say that they couldent even use it in a fight after 2+ years.
  15. absoulutly..alot of world class fighters start triaining at 20 or later
  16. lol i just noticed the spelling in the titile..
  17. yes..as long as it's a good teacher...depends on how it is taught...but it will definetly give you the tools.
  18. it's "usually" amore direct to the point fighting stlye.
  19. Krav maga is the self defense/fighting system of the IDF. It created by Imi shortly after WWII as a sytem that was simple, effective, and could be taught easily and effectivly. it's a very well integrated system that covers all ranges of the fight..punches/kicks/clinch fighting/escapes from chokes/holds/locks/ground fighting..weapons/multiple attackers etc. If you want a general comparision i would say.. Hands are very similar to Western boxing kicks/knees are similar to Muay Thai plus quite a bit of grappling similar to wrestling and Jiu jitsu. very simple/agressive/and to the point no nonsense system.
  20. Hugo duarte did Luta livre..he was the only one i remeber that fought in major events like UFC and Pride.
  21. lol yea...he kind of sat htere for a while before he decided to do something..i think he needs to work on reaction time a littel more
  22. very short clip of Murillo Bustamante(BJJ-black shorts) versus Joe Charles(judo-white shorts) http://216.40.244.4/misc/uvt2/uvt2_bustamante_vs_charles.zip another short clip of Joe charles Versus Stefanos(BJJ) http://216.40.244.4/misc/wvc9/wvc9_miltsakakis_vs_charles.zip I could proabably find more of judo but aikido videos are hard to come by...
