  1. if your looking for good hands, I would suggest a boxing gym over WC...
  2. to learn to be tough, to give punch, to take a punch, and to keep going after that
  3. non traditional=adapts to a changing world, getting rid of what does not work and bringing in techniques that are more effective Traditional=thats how it was when we strated the stlye so thats how it will always be done. what are you looking for in a MA? self defense/fighting? to stay in shape? alot dpends on your goals, alos do you want a grappling style or a striking stlyle?
  4. I would choose Kenpo out of those stlyes, but honestly alot depends on the school, just make sure it's not a Mcdojo and the instructor is the real deal.
  5. I think it would take more than a few lessons to become profficent in WC.
  6. -Royce Gracie
  7. Krav Maga, Krav Maga and Krav Maga very no nonsese street self defense/fighting oriented covers all ranges of the fight, hands, legs, knees, elbows, clinching, ground fighting etc. https://www.kravmaga.com
  8. didint Dan henderson beat Nog in their first fight? and didint Nog just get owned by Fedor? just messing with you, BJJ has obviouslly proven itself time and again Mix a solid Striking art with BJJ and or wretling and you are going to be on heck of a fighter.
  9. well two of the greates Kicboxers in rescent history both traveled to Thailand to anser this question. here were the results: Benny "the Jet" Urquidez vs Prayoud Sittiboonlert- The fight was actually in Japan, And Prayoud was not the current MT champion even. Benny's Corner threw in the towel at the end of the second round after some pretty severe punishment. Don "The Dragon" Wilson, Americas full contact karate champion vs Samart Prasamit in Bangkok thailand, despite a 20 pound weight advantage Wilson was knocked down twice and lost the fight. Wilson at 175 pounds later fought a 135 pound fighter by the name of Fanta Petchmuangtrat in Hongkong and once again was defeated. afterward he said he was going to start learning MT Remeber this is not to take away from either fighter they were truely great fighters and their records were both amazing. I actually have great respect for them because unlike most they were willing to travel to Thailand and take the challenge. something that deserves much respect. So i think history has shown MT to be the winner of this matchup
  10. well since the title of the post it says ufc and pride thats what i would assume. back in the day they were allowed to wear shoes but if they did they could not kick. i dont think anyone wears shoes anymore.
  11. First off you putting to much empasiz on the shin conditioning, they dont really make their shins harder, although they do get callous somewhat they do it so they dont feel the pain when they kick...anyone can shin kick it's just going ot hurt like hell if it gets blocked. second Muay Thai kicks are complety diffrent from TKD kicks, the best analogy i have heard is this TKD=whip/wet towel snap Muay thai=swinging a baseball bat TKD kicks are designed for a snap with speed and control, muay thai kicks are designed to penetrate so even if you used your shin in a tkd kick it would not be the same, would it hurt? sure, does any kick? yes but Muay thai kicks are notoriously brutal.. the only way to achive the same result is to kick like them, and then you are not doing tkd. so if you changed to a MT stance and change all the kicks to MT stlye then yes they would be equally effective...but thats not TKD now is it?
  12. TKD does not even kick with shins for one thing. there are so many diffrences between tkd and muay thai i wouldent even know where to begin.
  13. by reading his interviews but I agree we should drop this.
  14. Aikido does not have forms and capoiera is not really the best choice if your looking for self defense/fighting. i would suggest a grappling art if you do karate..something like BJJ/judo/sambo etc.
  15. lol, if someone was shooting and you kick them they are not going to "fly" anywhere ...it's just physics. obviously some people dont know how to shoot properly.
  16. yes it was 13 minutes. that 2 hour fight was another one i belive.
  17. no, why despite the biggest talent pool of any style has TKD not produced 1 single fighter that can compete at the top levels? if thats all it takes then someone would have done it, alot is in the training but not all.
  18. you got most of it right but, Mas Oyama went to Thailand and defeated some of the best. 3 of his students also went for a challenge match by the Thai fighters and won 2 out of 3. Kyokoshin is one of the Few stlyes that has been able to compete with Muay thai at the top levels, even today in K-1. but generally your right MT does hold the edge usually. alots in the training, full contact fighters are simply the best around period. this is of course excluding grappling stlyes like BJJ, Wrestling etc.
  19. like I said boxers are open to leg kicks, but you have to have the timing/power/experience and alot more ot be able to use them effectivly, and that comes form sparring. The kick you are talking about is the same one Royce uses before he shoots for the clinch, effective but he never broke anyones knee with it.
  20. you did make excuses, first you said he undestimated royce whitch was obviously not true, then you said he was too old..maybe so..but I think it's funny that he is still fighitng and winning 10 years later...he couldent have been to far past his prime..
  21. where did i say anything negative? oh thats right i didint I simply said it would be intresting to watch them fight in a mixed event like K-1. If you can take 7 people you shouldent have a problem with 1.
  22. Rear naked choke is proabably the most effective, i think it takes about 8 seconds to choke someone out if it's applied correctly. not sure how long you have to hold it after that to kill someone but you definety can.
