  1. First off no one has said greco roman isint effective, but if they dont learn submissions they will proabably get caught in one. severn was ALOT bigger than royce, and dont try and say Severn understimated him, he wint into that night knowing Royce was the undefeated -undisputed champion of the UFC. this is just the same, Helio was considered a huge underdog going against the much larger JJ champion and yet still put up an amazing fight. Kimura himself said - if a man so slight could resist for 3 minutes, he should be considered the winner of the match
  2. see, most people do not then i take it..if you do it's "extra cirricular"

  4. this is a video of how you fight 4 vs 1 http://www.bullshido.us/dl_goto.asp?id=6
  5. I think it would be intresting to watch an animal style fight in an event like K-1.
  6. If i was a JJ champion and it took me 13 minutes to beat a frail little man half my size I wouldent feel too great about it if a light weight went 10 rounds with mike tyson and got tko'd in the last round who would you consider the better boxer?
  7. the words of Kimura after his fight with helio Gracie- ...kimura was so impressed with helios technique he visited the Gracie academy the next day and invited him to teach in Japan. true, BJJ is not complete by itself IMO but I tell you what, it is amazingly effective at what it does and has preven itself alot mroe than most of the styles out there. true, but all i can say to that is look back at who made it what it is today.
  8. true, if you pactice real fighting..few schools practice close to reality imo...
  9. no, your right you do need to know takedown defenses/throws etc...but i was refering to ground fighting actually. usually fights are not planed and coreographed like johnny is suggesting. I agree you need grappling, but if you can end a fight with your fists and on your feet then thats usually the best route to take.
  10. i don think the technique is inferior i think the training meathods usually are though. so what if someone said they were the best basketball player in the world but they had never actually played basket ball, what would you think? what if i said i can beat mike tyson is a boxing match but chose to never box. i understand not everyone wants to compete, but sometimes it's a proving ground that is neccesary to seperate reality from fiction.
  11. Im talking about kicks directed twords the legs.
  12. why dont they ever compete in abu dhabi or mma events?
  13. JohnyS-Horrible argument now we should assume random attacker are black belts in BJJ that have devoted their life to it? if you get in a fight 98% of the time they wont know BJJ much less be a world champion in it. same as before, your not talking about normal people, your talking about trained fighters. thats assuming people try and immedietly take you down, most of the time they will try and knock you out. dont by to much into your own proganda, bjj has it's strenghts but it IS possible to beat multuple attackers, it HAS been done and Grappling is not the way to do it.
  14. If you want to learn how to fight here are my suggestions- -Muay Thai -Boxing -KYOKUSHIN karate -Krav Maga Grappling- judo braziliain Jiu jitsu
  15. right...boxer have so much experience at avoiding the shoot
  16. in BJJ they practice the techniques until they can apply them efficently to a resisting opponet. that's the main diffrence.
  17. I understand what your trying to say, but the fact of the matter is you have a good chance of getting knocked out in a bad way before you can take his legs out...unless you really know how to throw devestating leg kicks and how to not get taged when doing it. what your saying works in theory, thats about it, trust me. boxing may be one dimensional and it's go plenty of weaknesses but boxer know how give hit and take a hit..anf generally they are pretty tough.
  18. thats because they would get beat down
  19. I was always curious why Ryan parker, one of dillmans top students was not able to pull off any of these techniques while he was being choked out by remco pardoel at UFC 7.

  21. wrestler/judo player throw bjjers around..bjjers submit them..thats usually how it works.
  22. im saying this BKJ1216 is basis his whole argument on leg kicks, Leg kicks can be devestating to a boxer if you know how to use them and how to not get taged. but unless you spar with leg kicks you proabably wont be good at them, not good enough to use them effectivly. since he wont answer im taking it he does not spar with leg kicks.
  23. that is a statment based on a lack of experience. hands are usually more important than kicks. if you were a fighter you would know that. kicks leave you on one leg, that mens your one step away from being clocked in the jaw. thats the main thing that should be pointed out. kicks are important and im not trying to underetimate them, but people act like they are a magic cure for a boxer.
